How can I train crossbows without it's skill?

I startet with 5 in crossbows, and can't equip any crossbow.
How can I still level it up?

There must be a crossbow that requires 0 skill to equip it right ?
Maybe its possible to train it up at training fields ? (at least there were such in Warband)

I haven't seen one in the traders stores.
Atleast arena and tournamenst are bugged and and training fields don'T give you xp either. I testet both.

Edit:
I opened cheat mode inventory and saw there is a light crossbow with 0 requirement indeed

I just checked in my game. The nearest town has one crossbow for sale.

You only need a skill of 20 to use it.

But it's the most expensive weapon in the entire town, at $23,000.

So you'll have to work your way up over a long period of time, by investing in Control and Crossbow as soon as you get skill points.

Until then, there's nothing you can do.

Unless you restart the game and direct your character points into Control & Crossbow.

Just buy it from the cheat inventory if no one sells it. You have to activate cheat mode in the .ini file and than open your inventory while on map, then you can buy everything

Maybe there is an issue with shops because often the shops I got to have mostly the same items, only a few have different things in stock but they still have those same items there each time. Or it might be there is something I don't know.

The problem is they only sell a basic "crossbow" needing too much skill. So you can't use it to train.

If there is a no requirement one, then cheating should work.
But thats one of the things they should change at some point.

give crossbow to your companion and go with him to hideout then when he will shoot just kill him and pickup crossbow - profit

I've in over 16 hours of gameplay never seen a crossbow with which you could level up crossbow, which is most likely a bug, because crossbows also became so popular because they were so easy to use by untrained people.

In the cheat menue there is a "light crossbow" which needs 0 skill. I haven't seen it for sale anywhere.
