Crossbow doesnt reload on horseback

I got 75 crossbow and unlocked the perk to reload on horses but i just sit there not doing anything. Or is there a trick you need to do to reload on horseback

some crossbows cannot be used from horseback. should state so in the weapons stats

How did you get to use the crossbow? Starting lvl is 15 and the minimum to use it is 20

There is a little easy way to level it to 20.

1.Head to the Taverns in each major city and look for the mercs offering their support and look at their weapons IF they have a crossbow it will be on their back. Hire them.


2.Equip a bow and some arrows

3. Head to a hideout (ideally not forest as they are full of ranged units so makes it harder to do)

4.Order them to "fire at will" this will cause them to pull out their crossbows, once they done this take your bow and kill one. Pick it up and go fire away at the bandits.

Ride to Vlandia, join tournaments, they give you crossbows in tournaments there. 7-8 tournaments later, voila, you are level 20 at crossbows. Tournament amount can vary depending on your perks. But be warned, horseback ranged have issues, you may not use crossbows on horseback unless you use "item fixer" mod from NexusMods.

Edit: i had this 20 points of crossbow from scratch, not from 15. So your adventure might be shorter if you already have points invested in crossbows.

there is crossbow lvl 1 or the starter crossbow as you wish.. I got it as loot from some big fight, and later also again, but didn't saw it on any store in towns :-)
