Battania troop tree shouldnt be fragmented.
I would really prefer it if the troop tree was connected so I actually have access to archers and 2h.

I havent played other factions yet so I dont know how theri trees are. But I choose Battania because I wanted a 2h archer faction. The tree is fragmented and I have no access to either one of these trees.

I cant describe in words how I dislike the fact I have no access to archers as an archer faction. I think there are only 4 or 5 notables in the entire region who even have archers and I can never get them before other lords. So in an entire faction assuming I have high esteem with the notable people who have archers I still would not be able to get a decent percentage of archers. I was planning on having 50% archer pop in my army. I have yet been able to keep over 10 alive at one time. It even seems like the ai who im directly competing with for units is also having a hard time getting archers.

Has anyone got to late game yet? Does it get easier to get units? I had to restart my save because all my nobles got turned into graphic error meatballs and the banner quest was vague so I just started a new save file.

I've only done Vlandia so far, but the troop trees seem split between Commoners and Nobility. For example, I need to get the ever elusive Squire in order to get any cavalry, in a faction thats lauded for them.. So it seems like Batannias nobles are the only ones with bows.

Same problem. I wanted to play for the ranger gang style and choose Battania culture.
And then it turned out that the faction that lives in woods, and on whose territory are full of forest robbers , does not have in millitary tree cheap peasant archers.

It easier to get tons of conscripts late game but nobles are fairly rare..

Yeah thats wierd. In Battania I have NO ARCHERS i have some skirmishers. Only nobles have bows. I am getting out ranged by the empire when im suppose to be the ranged faction.

Thats what im talking about. It seems like everything is slim pickings but conscripts.

Keep in mind I wouldnt mind just starting with conscripts and leveling them up. But because I can only get conscripts I have no access to bows or 2h... in a bow/2h faction.

Yup, Archer faction with no archers. Unless you can hire noble. Kinda crazy

Why is the ARCHER faction having a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of THROWING soldiers, and no archers ? Are Talesword devs actually insane ?
And why the "Battanian Picked Warrior" is actually worse than his previous form in polearm, while he is bearing a damn polearm. Also he has 150 skills on bow...WHILE NOT HAVING A BOW. Just...wtf ?!

Yeah... I just stopped playing and im going to wait for mods to fix mistakes. Clearly there are multiple things pissing me off and im just done. I seriously considered writing a negative review listing them off but at the same time I know modders are gonna fix the issues so why bother. This recruitment system makes no sense. Why am I, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lord, recruiting from street gangsters? its stupid.

The issue isn't that you're recruiting from street gangs, though you can if you want to live the life of a robber baron. Its that you're a Celtic-ish Lord recruiting from your people, not all of who are nobles. I actually like this, since it felt odd that i was raising massive squads of Noble knights from a village that was burned down 2 weeks ago. I can see how the change might annoy a lot of people, but i support it.

I feel like Warband trained us that that because a Faction has A- type of unit strength, said unit will make up most of their army, but here it doesn't seem to be the case. Battania, being a Celtic inspired faction, fights a lot like they would have. Their units are often fast, lightly armored, are superb in flank and skirmish tactics, such as ambushes. They're Celts, not Archers, even if archers are their best units.

You thinking is sound, but they should inform the player beforehand that they are indeed not an archer faction.

Don't think they ever actually claimed them as the archer faction. We came into this with our own idea of what they were and how they should be played. A few of videos I watched based the factions purely off of their multiplayer loadouts, for instance

they have the best archers in the game, i got like 20 of those noble archers and there's a couple of towns you can get them at and if you do the quests from they guy who give them you would be able to have a bunch of them in no time. i actually like the idea that you need to put in some work in the game inorder to get those beasts of archers.

The best way to get archers is bandits in my erperience. If I level up the rogue tree I could upgrade the forest bandits to battania IIRC. Buts thats all I can tell you guys. This was just my opinion. I dont like artificial handicaps.

Didnt even remember it worked differently in warband
previously played perisno and there it worked the same (just you could get nobles only in castles for relatively huge sums)
I mean i dont realy mind them having elite soldiers that are harder to get otherwise disiplinarian would be pretty weak and you would once agein be able to build up full on elite armys

I was sure you used to be able to do that but now you need a perk to be able to upgrade them.

Easiest way i've found at least dure the vassal part of the game is to be at war with Battania and recruit them from captives.

The troop tress are obviously broken and got little attention at all from the devs. The zero stats etc along with having the bandit tree also funnel into the knight/champions trees etc.

A dude making his first mode over a weekend would have put more attention to detail into them than the devs have (like checking to see if your crossbow troops actually have any points in the crossbow skill etc).

In fact the guys fixing the troop trees in the mods did just that. For now I have kind of shelved the game since the late game is even more unfinished.

The skeleton of a good game is in there, but the flesh currently hanging on those bones is mostly rancid right now.
