Where's the DRM-free GOG release?
Considering those alleged emails to Denuvo that were leaked... I'm concerned to say the least.

I wouldn't be. If you've played any of the following games from 2019 alone...

Resident Evil 2
Metro Exodus
Ace Combat 7
Far Cry New Dawn
Devil May Cry 5
Anno 1800
Mortal Kombat 11
Total War Three Kingdoms
FE 2019
Heavy Rain
Wolfenstein: YOungblood
Borderlands 3
PES 2020
Planet Zoo
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order
Football Manager 2020

... you've already played a game that uses Denuvo, and your computer is still alive.

There are so many AAA games that use Denuvo it's hard to list them all in one sitting. I've played a great deal of them and no harm has been done to my PC.

I hold Taleworlds to a higher standard than AAA DRM-ridden garbage.

This may not carry over to the final product, though. The beta is meant to be a multiplayer affair, which means it may uniquely require the Steam API where the final game may not. I've heard plenty of cases where people have made early claims of a game requiring them to be online because of Wicked Denuvo that haven't panned out when I played, so I'll see for myself when it's in my hands.

You can buy it from their Homepage, its not linked to steam i believe.

What is this supposed leak you refer to?

I guess I could be wrong, I was originally under the impression it would be using steam, since it seems to in the beta. Of course now it is going to be on Epic as well so that's probably not right... have to wonder how they are going to do this for multiplayer.

Edit: Done a bit of digging because I just realised I've only seen PC game claim it is going to be on the Epic Store, Taleworlds announcements only state you can buy it from their site and steam and you can't find it on Epic's site so... PC gamer might just be wrong?

Its not leak, its from the newest News on Steam: "Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord will be released in Early Access on 31st March 2020. The game will be available for purchase through Steam and TaleWorlds website, for $49.99/€49.99/£39.99." You see TaleWorlds website is also listed. And you dont need to activate it on steam, at least thats how it worked with Warband.

This is a big assumption though. The beta uses steam, and it uses your steam profile. They can very easily just sell the steam keys through their website (in which case they will profit more from it in such a scenario I believe).

The leak I mentioned is about OPs actual post.

I asked on Reddit, and they responded saying the version you purchase on their website would just be a steam key. They said nothing about a DRM free release which worries me.

Hey everyone, I am this Vishnu from the ancient email that everyone suddenly seem to have resurrected. I basically work in business development and as a company, we are curious about new technologies. As such, I inquire and explore interesting tech to see if it can be used in our game and studio. Yes, we have inquired about Denuvo and researched it. It was decided after that that we will not be using Denuvo in MB2.

The other rumor that our studio is state funded is also not true. This may shatter the dreams of all aspiring developers who were going to move here to get free funding from the government to run a studio of this size basically for free for decades at a time because of this rumor. But for those interested, the government does provide rebates in taxes similarly or competitively to other world governments to their own tech industry.

Conspiracies aside, we are very excited to open the doors to SP next month. We genuinely hope that every one of you will enjoy Bannerlord ^^

Well it’s good they aren’t using denuvo. Doesn’t mean there’s no drm, however it Gives me hope they will release a drm free version at some point. Just wish it was sooner rather than later. At this point, I’m less excited about bannerlord than I was before I found out there was no gog release. I’m probably just going to wait and see how this all plays out.

I just hope it wont be something that will require us to be constantly online just to play the game(for singleplayer ofcourse). We had enough of that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on many games; i'd hate to see my game stop running in the middle of a gaming session just because it can not connect to internet for a second...

We already can not play our steam games if not going online for couple of weeks, that should be enough of drm.
