Siege ladders
I don't mean to sound whiny or picky or like a spoiled brat, but there's a detail I am quite uncomfortable with. Before the siege battle begins, it looks like the siege ladders are already placed at the foot of the castle walls. Can we not have the troops carry the ladders and place them, like they do with battering rams and towers, or is that not feasible due to technicalities?

It's a bit immersion breaking because how could those ladders have ended up there to begin with?

In the first siegge battle video, they put the ladders. I mean, the ladders was already near the walls, but in the ground. When attacking troops reach them, grab them and put them against the walls.

That's what I'm saying. Why don't the attacking troops take the ladder and put it down there instead? Who put it there? How did they get past the archers etc,

In Warband before the siege, there is a window when you decide to attack, informing casualties on setting up the siege elements. The game did not show us, but they are puting the stuff there haha.

Anyways im agree w you.

In VC for example it is the case, but not in Warband nativ.

Its great that was simulated though. Still one of the best games ever made. Top 5 anyway.

Top 1 for me. Actually, there is no better game than Warband to me, it is stil my main source of entertaiment even this days 10 years after his release.

that would be cool to see them carry the ladders. and realistic.

In terms of balance, it could prove to be a bit problematic. I saw the siege battle between britanians and the western empire. The attackers were slaughtered. If we see soldiers carrying ladders, and we shoot them down, we can delay them further. In which case the western empire in that video, possibly, could've lost more brutally.

However, maybe the devs could make ladders be able to land on any point of the castle walls, not just to certain spots where it could prove to be a brutal kill zone. And it could help the attackers be more unpredictable. Right now the whole thing feels "fixed" and predetermined. Perhaps it's the engine's limitations? Idk.

I was thinking, let the walls have multiple segments that the ladders could land, not just one or two. Obviously battering rams would go to the gates.

Total War can do it, why not Bannerlord? This is a newer game after all with a new fancier engine than their older titles. Another thing modders will fix I guess.

Haha I was actually thinking about Total War when making this post.

Don't worry about it guys, of course it will be added.
We got a dev blog explaining why static-reins were really really unrealistic in warband. So of course having ladders being carried to the walls will be added because its much more obvious and important to the realism compared to non-static reins. So it just has to be added otherwise they are pretty dumb for making a dev blog just about non-static reins only to overlook other more crucial details on realism.

In Total Warhammer, they cut away the entire portion of building and carrying ladders and had them magically appear from the back pockets of your troops when they reached the castle walls.
They did this for a number of technical reasons.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that that all of the programming and scripting nightmares associated with directing AI troops to successfully pick up and carry a ladder, the physics quirks associated with casualties suffered while actually carrying it, and the thousand other things I can't even think of... are part of the reason Bannerlord development has taken so long.

I mean, as I recall, they scrapped their original engine because Yavuz wasn't happy with the way walls turned to rubble. Who knows what lengths they'll go to in order to make ladder-carrying immersive?

maybe they can do it like in Stronghold Crusader. have engineer siege unit.

The vanguard placed the ladders in warband, and you got a screen showing random casualties from them running in there placing the ladders.
