Taleworlds says they will not release the Source Code for modding
In a previous conversation someone still believed that the source code for Mount and Blade 2 would be released to aid in modding. The developers have come out and said outright that it will not happen anymore.

Let's recap, Denuvo which prevents overhaul mods, and no more source code release for amazing modding. How does one developer 180 to such an anti consumerist position during a single games development?

Well at least they said they will release modding tools so it sounds like modding of a normal game so overhauls will probulary be harder.

I guess reason is Money and interests.:
its their game and they can do what they want. ;-)

Maybe it will have steamworkshop support and an SDK kit so people can create mods and so on.
Regarding the source code then maybe they think people will steal it and use it in other comercial titles. Or maybe the comunity will take the game and tweakt it to become more populrare than the original. OR maybe they want to avoid modders trying to earn money modding the game.
Well wait an see what MB2 have to offer. ;-)

It looks like an editor is available. Thats very generous.

I dont have any problems editor or not its such an excellent game.

But they also write:
"We will then make our gameplay code accessible to modders, so they can extend or rewrite to suit their purpose."

You need a SDK (which they actually confirmed that they going to release) not the source code, btw explain how Warhammer has overhaul mods while it has Denuvo. Source code means literal the engine, SDK are tools which usually developers also have used to create the game. It allows you to pretty much mod anything you want in an easy way, it's a critical part in creating mods at release. Because if it doesn't exist the community itself first has to create all the tools before everyone else can start to mod.

Of course no one release the source code!! If they do, any crap idiot can compile it and have FREE Bannerlords or even worst, steal it.
We dont have the Warband source code, or the Gta s source code.

Modding is possible anyways. They will give us tools to do it. There is already a c# languaje.

Please don't worry. This is not a problem, as many commenters above wrote explaining why. Also this Is what has to happen to avoid trouble down the road with the company Taleworlds and them pulling their hair out like last time. Things will work out. Simply wait until the games released until making your official stance on the subject with complaints and or worries.

Things are moving forward everyday and the game's Is still in development stages. Meaning don't confuse the battle demo presentation review with the complete version. Its far from it. So hold on to your butts and play some warband with mods while you respectfully wait for the completion of the game.

(hint: just keep positive and conjure up good hype so that devs will get the encouragement they need to move even more forward to give the best content they can think of.)

You don't need source code to mod. People need to do their research.
ATAMAH Feb 20, 2017 @ 6:21am
Despite this the game will still get good mods

This is a major problem

This isn't a major problem

They know VERY WELL that MB depends of MODS to keep his longevity.
Dont worry, they said MANY TIMES they support modding communitys and BL will have many mods and easier to do.

Not only by the new C lenguaje ingame, but with tools.

Kevin you need to stop panicking about modding. You are getting yourself worked up for no reason.
