"Alternate history" inspirated by novel "Aelita" 1923 (Tolstoy, Alexey Nikolaevich) (some critics think that was inspirated by novel "Mission to Mars" 1918, Sophus Michaelis)
however, the authors of game twisted story inside out and turned into a rough anti-Soviet and anti-Russian propaganda as are the times of the height of the Cold War :(
If you have not read novel "Aelita", do not know Russian, do not know the real story, do not wait allusions to the story "Aelita" novel, it's just a beautiful exploration game, with non-trivial puzzles, and beautiful surroundings...
btw, knowledge of the Russian language and plot of the novel makes walkthrough more easy
