Baseball card puzzle on the wall

What am I trying to do? I don't get the goal of the puzzle. I thought maybe grouping the cards into three groups, with each group adding to 17? Doesn't seem to work.

Well the diagram is a triangle and the triangle has three lines, each of the lines has to add up to 17.

Use your smaller cards (1,2 and 3) on each of the vertices
