Wine Bottles Puzzle
I feel like I know what to do and yet it's not working. Hints?

The year of the bottles.......if you got that then it's not how many you push..............if you need more than...................................................it's just in what order of a date.

age of the winery is what I figured I'd be going by, but that doesn't seem to be working out for me. However I input it into the bottles.

If I remember the date 1879, right? so row one click botton 1 row 2 click botton 8 down....and so forth...

yeah, it's 1879 but no combination works. Top, Bottom, blah blah blah.

The bottles are a 4x9 grid, 4 numbers in the date, 1-9. So starting from the top, first bottle, 8th bottle down 2nd row, 7th bottle down third row, bottom bottle forth row. I had a little trouble with this one because its hard to tell which bottles are in, I thought I had it wrong, but I really just had a spare bottle pushed in somewhere.

You can either push the bottles in or pull them out. Are you pulling the numbered bottles out? If that's not working...

In spite of the hints I'm still stuck on this! To be clear: you start with all bottles out? For 1879, 1 is the first bottle (top left of the rack?). What next - what is 8 - last bottle in second row?This approach doesn't work for me...Simple explanation please!!!

Have all bottles out.

1 - top bottle in left row
2 - eighth bottle in the 2nd row
3 - 7th in the 3rd
4 - 9th in the last row

I figured it out thanks to Lansu's hint last week...well, more like direction on what to do. lol. I kept pushing in the amount of bottles per number vs. their location on the "grid." At least I had the right idea. lol

Thanks guys but I still have this mental block re "8th bottle in second row" as each row only has 4 bottles! Do you start counting at 1st bottle in first row, so 8th is last bottle in second row?
7th in 3rd row? Again only 4 bottles in 3rd row....Duhhhhh!

you're thinking wrong :) Each row has 9 bottles and work from the left to right.

possibly the easiest puzzle in the game,
when looking at the sign tex even mentioneds

1879 hmm 1.. 8...7...9

he says it just like that. lol

rows across 4 by 9 bottles per row down

my bro did the same thing, sometimes the simple puzzles can stump the most brilliant minds hehe

OK this is where I am going wrong - there are 4 COLUMNS of 9 bottles with 4 bottles in 9 ROWS. Now it makes sense!!

Looks like all got past it - issue I found was if you miskeyed once could not "redo" - backed out to last solved game and redid and that handled it - just in case anywone else runs into that.... figuring the 1879 and going L>R for 4 columns seemed pretty straightforward, but getting it to execute required backing out.
