It's a definite 'no' for launch. It has been promised, but they said it would be sometime after launch. I don't suspect it will be long maybe May or June. That's just a guess, though.
It's going to be a hard wait once the other versions come out, but I think it's worth it not to ruin the OS statistics.
People have reported playing the beta on less than minimum specs, so you are probably good to go.
I backed the game knowing its on Windows first althoug I only run linux. Unfortunately no luck with Wine right now... green screen and I cant start the game because no input possible where a username has to be given... ; I hope there will be a workaround soon. I have several games running in my Wineprefix...
WIsh it comes out on Linux too...

Ditto of course since I'm a Linux gamer too but it is understandable.

The Kickstarter didn't even promise a Linux port, but there were several gamers asking for it, so AFTER the Kickstarter they finally said, "okay, we'll make a Linux version too."

Because of that, it's understandable they worked on the other promised versions first, even though you'd think that both Linux and Mac could sort of be worked on in parallel.

Actually now that I think about it, Unity 5 has a one-click Linux deploy, and I thought Unity 4 did too didn't it? So even if they used Unity 4 for making this, maybe the Linux version will come quicker than we think? Maybe even if Unity 4 wasn't "one-click" it is still easy to release a Linux version?

Tried to run the demo through Wine didnt go to well, Not that wine is a solution anyway. Really cant wait for a Linux port.
For me too... Game runs but green screen instead cinematics and no input possible via keyboard. Tried with different wine-prefixes...still no luck. But support says Linux will be coming :-) But dont know when... unfortunatley..
+1 for a native Linux/SteamOS port.
There will be Linux support very soon, but not at launch.

I wish Linux had made an appearance in the Kickstarter and been a supported platform, but I will very much take later than never! The Tex Murphy series is one of the greatest gaming series of all time!

In a perfect world "one click deploy" systems would work like a charm, but in real world there's always some amount of issues between platforms, so it rarely is as easy as the promises make it out to be.
Is it going to be mac compatible at launch or just windows at first? I wouldnt think it would be a huge leap to go from osx to linux, but im not a game developer.

In yesterday's live Q&A Chris Kelley (Tesla Effect's lead programmer) said Linux version's not ready because the company producing the video playback technology hasn't released a Linux version of their product yet. He also said a Linux version won't probably come out before mid-summer
Well, that's a major bummer.

Just for curiosity's sake: does anybody know which video codec and middleware they use?
I guess there's no way to quickly hack together a video player, with, say, ffmpeg as the decoder?
