When are we going to get a new Tex Murphy game?

A brand new game? Probably never if we're being honest. The Pandora Directive remaster might come out someday and the Romanov Enigma novel is supposed to release on the 1st of May.

Aaron Conners is making an interactive book about a steakhouse stakeout by Tex Murphy. I don't think we'll ever see a new game (because Tesla Effect underperformed), who is sad. But The Romanov Enigma Novel is out and is a very good book telling the story between The Pandora directive and Tesla Effect.

Well, of course it under performed. It was kick started and then went over that budget. People were using the kickstarter as a preorder so it wasn't like they could really draw in new fans. It also doesn't help that the first two chapters are absolutely awful. So, most game reviewers gave it an eh to poor review and when you have people try it out the only puzzles they come across are super simple ones. It also gives the impression that in every chapter you're constantly asking everyone a bunch of little questions to earn points most of which don't amount to anything.

Like, I really enjoy the game and the series, but they did a poor job on trying to get new people into it. Especially since it's hailed as the long awaited return with lots of people having never played, or known, about the originals. Lack of controller support didn't help either.

Relaunch with controller support and maybe a few tricks to the beginning might still save it, I think this game has potential to be more popular yet...

Absolutely not happening. The Pandora Directive remake was completely scrapped (technically put "on pause" indefinitely) last year, if I remember correctly. It was a one-man project, and when he got a new job, he—unsurprisingly—dropped it.

As for Tesla, I’m with Kimosamie<sAp on this. Honestly, it was never a great game to begin with. The humor was pretty hit-or-miss, probably only funny to a handful of people. The first few chapters were decent, but the last ones? Terrible. The team never really nailed endings. That said, I do remember some overly positive reviews back in the day, which I never understood. 68 on Metacritic.

And The Romanov Enigma? So far, it’s just bland and lazy. I’m about 25% in, and it feels like we’re revisiting the same time period for the third time. "What happened to Tex and Chelsee?" Can we move on already?
