Since there are so many settings, hopefully this gives you a relative reference point.... It does take a very long time though and it's rvery much an very very very late/end-game weapon in all of my games.
yeah but it is fun. you know those pesky planet near you which isn't so valuable for you but the AI keeps conquering it and pollutes your sector with its presence? just blow it up :D. or do you have those last empire homeworld which has such a strong spaceport and so many troops and defense facilities on it? bombardment too slow for ya? blow it up :D.
