Any way to absorb nations in non-hostile ways?
Or create U.N. like multi treaties between nations, simuliar to MOO 1 and 2?

just create a alliance with some other race you like, sure you can get a good 3 other races to stick to a permanent alliance..... so long as they dont war each other and both sides request your help LOL

You can also subjegate empires I believe, if you beat em sufficiently.

Although I have yet to try this.

i did it once, it doesnt make them part of your empire or even a ally, it just makes it so you take a portion of their income, but they get annoyed at you and keep demanding you to set them free, then sometimes start a war if you refuse..... usually they more likely to start a way as soon as someone else starts on you :)

I believe you can convince colonies to leave an empire and jong you if you have enough influence in the area the colony is in.

Ok far out, thanks for the help, I've been playing a peaceful but highly minipulative and political nation and couldnt for the life of me figure it out. Thanks guys.

i dont think you can converse with individual colonies in a empire.... you only converse with the empire itself. so not sure how convincing a colony to leave would work..... think it may be somthing like civilisations culture system though mixed with how happy the colony is in the empire they are in

This. I am pretty sure influence might influence (lol :P) a colony to switch sides. Let's say you managed to take a planet in a war but there is another one that belongs to your enemy. Now according to influence present, state of the colony, empires, population, taxes and happiness that colony might want to switch sides. Even though I have yet to witness this myself though but this should be possible.

Interesting, I'll attempt to test this, as this could add a new tactic to being a all peacful and happyness oriented nation.

no, you can use your spys though and incite rebillions they will turn neutral most the time, if they have your race on them they can turn to your empire, or a race that does not like the current owner that has a + diplomacy rating with you.
