Repairing the World Destroyer
So I went over to the world destroyer and shot a warning shot at the construction ship already there by an opposing empire.

Then I moved in my construction ship and chose to repair the thing. For some reason though, then it changes his mission to "repair capital ship" and my construction ship takes off to another colony, leaving the destroyer behind.

Is this a glitch? How do I fix this guy up?

I found this in the past, I think its to do with the number of resources the constructor has, mine kept going back to the colony to restock and the 3 other empires in the vicinity would swoop in and take over, in the end i just sent a fleet to destroy the damned thing; If i can't have it, no one can.

then i discovered that each constructor has a X% value in the ship window which i believe is its resource capacity. I've not extensively tested this so someone please correct me if im wrong, but a constructor with +90% in this value never seems to leave the repair project until its finished... of course this was just repairing actual capital ships and not the world destroyer (which is listed as a capital ship in terms of repairing), as since i noticed this number i've not found another world destroyer.

This happens because your constructor needs to manufacture the World Destroyer's unbuilt components and for that it needs resources so it goes to the nearest supply source to pick them up.

Constructors don't need resources to repair damaged ships/bases, but the World Destroyer isn't just damaged - it's also unfinished and its unbuilt components need to be manufactured out of resources just like on any other construction project.

@12_monkeys: If your constructor keeps leaving to restock, it probably didn't have enough cargo space to grab all the necessary resources in one go. You can fix that by simply designing your constructors with more cargo bays.

Another reason it might leave is because it runs out of fuel. The solution is to design constructors with energy collector components so that they don't consume any fuel while building/repairing stuff (as they're stationary during these operations, therefore the energy collectors will kick in).

Don't be surprised if you win the game long before you finish that planet destroyer. They take decades (game years) to finish.

Haha yeah. I might have to start another game with no end to get this guy. I don't think I'll ever finish one at this rate. Oh well. Time will tell haha.
