Wait for DW2 or buy DW Universe now?

At the matrix store you can get DW Universe for 13€. Worth to buy or will be DW2 out soon?

You need patience and probably don't mind reading if you want to turn off automation. I recommend DWU for certain. Considering how good it is and the price you cannot go wrong. But will it be worth your time is another question. ;)

I am hoping DW2 is as good or better than DWU. I'd still get DWU; beta is not started yet.

No there is very little official declaration of features. The ~26 seconds Video was released by Matrix as a Christmas present for DWU fans. Beta testing is supposed to start mid January, i.e. any time now.

You might have trouble with some security programs thinking that DWU is a malware infection. This happened to me recently when I changed my Internet security program. I had played DWU at least occasionally in the last several years and Malware Bytes (my old security program) had no problem with it. But my newest security package thinks that the DWU exe is malware.

I do have an extension, plus Bacon Mod (1.75), and maybe a few other Mods active. I was able to get DWU to run until changing my security program.

The Beta for DW2 will probably starting this next week, see messages posted in this forum.

1) Bacon Mod IS a hack to vanila file via reverse-engineering. So it could be a false positive by his nature.
2) If you're receiving confusing antivirus warning - use virustotal to see what other antiviruses will say. Usually for false positives you will see 2-4 "positive" results while everybody else will be "negative". For home - it's more then enough :)

No release date. The dev said soon. And he show some gameplay. He also say there is a lot of improvement to do.

Distant worlds is one of the best games i have ever played. getting it to work however may prove very difficult. some have no luck, others need to do a lot of tinkering. Buy it and hope it works or pass and wait for DW2

Make sure to edit the initialise text file and set play intro video to zero, it tends to be the main culprit.
