If you use the same button for both, then it makes things like neutral air hits pretty tricky, and things like bunting down in midair end up being nearly impossible.
Swing to X, bunt to B, and taunt to Y.
You're playing as Sonata, who can double jump. You try to neutral the ball mid-air, and in doing so, you jump once, then try to get an up angle on your neutral. You hold up and then neutral, but you end up jumping again because up is bound to jump. As a result, you end up double jumping, and neutraling above the ball. You release the up button in order to prevent you from staying in the air any longer, which causes your neutral to be a horizontal.
Overall: it's difficult to do any sort of rising maneuver, and your angles will probably be off.
