The Walking Dead: Season Two

The Walking Dead: Season Two

I don´t really like the idea of playing as Clementine
Taking care of Clementine was a huge part of Season 1. For the entirety of that game Lee was made out to be the role model for Clementine, teaching her(and learning himself too) how to survive in a zombie apocalypse. For the entirety of the ending Lee is giving Clementine the last advice he can. And at least to me a huge part of the motivation to play "well" and do good for other people in Season 1 came from wanting Clementine to get the right advice going forward and stay human in more ways than one(to put it shortly).

And that´s where my gripe comes in. Now in Season 2 we get to play as Clementine and to me that heavily undermines the whole of trying to be a role model to her in the first season. Instead of Clementine being out there in that universe doing the best she can according to the advice she got from Lee, the player gets to make these decisions as her completely overriding any influence Lee had on her. Looking back there was no point in trying to make her a good person since we get to make these decision where it would matter anyway.

Now all that said playing as a child is undoubtedly going to be really interesting and the game really good, but I can´t help but feel like it isn´t optimal for the series.

I agree almost completely. Having to make choices as an already established character is a bit worrying. I can't imagine Clementine making similar choices to the stuff Lee had to deal with in the first game.
Please, don't talk down on Clementine. She will be our new hero from now on in the great episodes to come. Learn to appreciate her like we appreciated Lee. After all, Lee created Clementine what she is in Season Two.

I'm not entirely convinced either. But I guess it's still better than having a completely new protagonist to replace Lee.
That did not make sense...
We will see what Telltale Games can pull off.
what they should have done is have it be about a whole new person but in the opening scene they awake to see a hunched over sillhouette eating their food, they reach for their gun and the figure rises up and they shoot at it in fear. It falls into the light and we see that it is a clearly starving but still human clementine.

The guy is a tough guy, but even he is totally shaken by this revelation. He would never hesitate to kill a person in self defense, or kill a zombie for fun, but to kill a little girl in fear is shameful to him. so the... internal struggle throughout would be whether he is brave or a ♥♥♥♥♥, instead of in the first one where it's more like... is he a good guy or a bad guy... I guess. And this guy would very clearly not be a "good guy". not a bad guy either but he would be stealing and lying and doing generally shady stuff right off the bat, and not thinking twice about it. His doubts wouldn't be moral, but strategic, including his strategy of dominating the other survivors with intimidation.

I absolutely LOVE that we get to play as Clem. I have a HUGE amount of respect for Telltale for making that decision. Not many developers have the balls to make their main character a 9-year-old girl.
why do you have to be so mean?

For the simple reason that it's bs. The first season was well written to a point and got worse over the course of the rest of the season. This one will either be worse and get worse or will be the same.

Shut up, Darius. You're just a big IDIOT.

People, the decissions made in 400 days and first season WILL CARRY ON TO SECOND ONE!!! So all Lee's teachings will have influence on what choices you have while playing Clementine after all 100%, its not like starting with Tabula Rasa over here. Everything you did, everything you saw, tasted, felt, smelled etc in the first season will influence Clementine in one way or the other - how she handles things, how will she cope with hard decissions at hand and will she stray from Lee's teachings (however good or bad you made them in S1).

I don't know what will devs put as the default path for the people that don't have S1 but got S2, so that worries me a bit since THAT path will become canon (as it "true" playtrough and not "what if").
*MAJOR STORY SPOILERS TO MAKE A POINT*
I understand that the gameplay as a whole will definitely change. Although, I disagree with you. I feel like the story might be very different, where the characters interact with Clem like she is a child. I am SO excited to see things from her point of view aswell. Clementine might have another role model, or maybe she will be the role model to someone else. Throughout season 1, Clem has grown to be patient and how to deal with death *MAJOR SPOILERS* with Duck, the only person her age, and with Lee *MAJOR SPOILERS*

tl,dr I disagree with you, yet I am very excited to play as Clem
Lee's teaching, season one's decissions and 400 decissions carry one to season two. Playing as a child, in horror survival game, which could meen that survival has been never harder to a player, i mean Clem still is a child...

I have feeling that season two is good and better than good.

^^^^^This^^^^^^

Remember people OP, The fact that the game remembers your choices for her can have an outcome on the choices she makes in the game. The whole time your spending to show her how to survive with that being said, who knows what you showed to her will effect the choices you have ingame. She might end up being limited on what to do or not given other options changing alot of peoples play though of the game.

To say this will be a bad idea off the bat might be a bit too much right now. I would say wait and see but so far TellTale is doing way more for story and games then....... Quantic Dream the makers of beyond two souls...... that is not even a game anymore
There is also the fact that our choices from S1 and 400 Days carry over, meaning that some situations might arise solely based on Lee's decisions, and Clem's possible choices may stem from the things she learned from Lee. An example would be two players get the same situation in their playthroughs, but both players have completely different choices they can make.
