Does this game have quick saves? How is the save mechanic?

I'm thinking about picking up this game but I'm a bit unsure about the save mechanics. Can I save at any time?

I'm asking as I don't enjoy replaying massive chunks of gameplay I already played in video games. I have read that there are only a couple of saves per level available; is this only on hard or also on normal difficulty? It would be a major detractor for me.

It's not a hard game, I tend to play on true which gives you three saves when you start a level but you can earn more saves in the level, and there's often a free checkpoint in a level so you'll end up with more saves than you need.

Hard lets you start with five saves while normal gives you ten. Then there's infinite saves on easy.

I have read in a review that you can create a "custom difficulty". Could you make the game sort of hard but give yourself infinite saves?

Yes there's custom difficulty.

From what I recall, easy mode has infinite saves but you can't do that in custom - you can however set it to 10 and get extra saves every time you pick up money, a unique weapon, travel certain distance and probably a few others.
