What guns are y'all using?
I've been using exclusively the DLC Five-Seven because splinter cell. I have stored up a fair bit of cash and don't really know what to spend it on.

The game only lets me do one round of training after each mission with Steve and unfortunately, I didn't train after the first mission. So i'm behind there, but I have $12,000 and don't really know what to spend it on.I'm reluctant to carry a primary because of the added noise.

Has anyone spent time testing different pistols for shots to kill and find what the damage number break points are?

Primaries: MP5SD, UMP40, MAC-10, MP5N
Secondaries: That one .40 pistol, MK23, the .22 Pistol, or the Veterinary Pistol

.40 and 9mm ammo are the most common ammo types so I really like them. .45-caliber weapons work really well with suppressors. The MP5SD is a weapon you have to unlock by finding it and bringing it to the level exit, by the way. I forget where you can find it.

Any suppressed pistol (other than the 22) can one-tap unaware enemies from behind. I personally prefer 45 since it’s naturally subsonic and easier to suppress, but YMMV.

Mk23
never really bothered with the F57 tbh
since the dmg sucks with subsonic ammo

if ur on true difficulty
you can usually kill bad guys within 3 shots for all weapons

Yeah, I was very disappointed with the damage. Once I realized I had to select subsonic ammo separately and at a massive damage reduction.
The ACP ammo is naturally subsonic. I feel like the splunter cell 57 ammo ammunition should have been subsonic as well. Seems crazy that of all the weapons. The ones from one of THE stealth games are kind of terrible for using silenced.

In the early game I was sticking to the MP5N in 9mm, because the ammo is very common and you find frequently refills. Also the big magazine capacity of 50 rounds helps in intense firefights.

For the sidearm I like to use something in another caliber as the primary weapon, so the ammo pool is extended. The Mk23 feels good to me. I also liked the Glock 22 in 10 mm.

But it's not really important which gun to use. They are all viable. Just make sure you always end the map with bringing two new guns to unlock, so you never have to waste money to buy guns. Use the money only for weapon attachement unlocks and training.

The game is balanced around the stronger the gun, the lower the amount of ammo.

The question is how much firepower you need for your playstyle.

If you like to go loud at the beginning of a level, then it helps to use something that runs on the ammo enemy will drop. But even if you don't and you run out of ammo, you can always pick up the guns that got dropped by the enemy.

If you go stealthy into a strongpoint position to start the firefight there with already reduced enemys, then you can easily use the super overpowered guns like the Saiga shotgun or anything else you want.

If you go stealth only, then focus on melee and use a gun that has a low detection range like the Ruger 22 or Welrod.

UMP with silencer and subsonic ammo.Infra laser and all extras.
Movement noise from most primary weapons is pretty negligible. You may as well count the difference in pixels. It's when you're walking around in a plate carrier with a bunch of grenades that you need to start watching your movement speed more carefully.

Since you're already using a FiveseveN, an MP7 or P90 would be a fun addition to the loadout. They share ammunition, so you can use the primary ammo pool in your pistol and vise-versa.

I've recently taken a shine to the AN-94. Single fire against an armored enemy is a bit risky, but the hyperburst makes mercenaries easy targets without pulling me away from the clean semi-auto playstyle I've gotten used to.

If you want to keep being sneaky, the MP5SD is pretty fun. Even in full auto you can cook off little bursts into a clump of enemies without alerting anybody. Combine it with a slowmo and you can quietly clear small areas like security rooms with some regularity.
In my experience, True difficulty makes 9mm SMGs extremely viable due to the sheer quantity of ammo and the fact that just about everyone dies in 1-3 hits; I run the MP5N/SD and Scorpion Evo 3, modded for ammo capacity, then find good places to hold and eliminate most of the level's enemies. It's easier for me to just save and start blasting than to actually stealth through the level when it's so easy to alert everyone.

This is incorrect, but theres a ton that factors into damage multiplier. Biggest is obviously caliber, then if its silenced, then how far away, if you are behind (I think) an how unaware enemies are. Notably a few levels are "entirely unaware" (start state for all guards) "looking" (where something is wrong, but they aren't quite alerted, music isn't full blast) "alerted and sweeping" (is looking, on edge, but not highest alert) "alert and actively anticipating combat" (if they hear you blow away 2 guys in the next room, but don't SEE you) and "actually shooting you".

I believe all of these levels provide a small multiplier against incoming damage, which heavily effects 22, so any less than optimal 22 shots will not 1 shot. That said if you shoot a guy whos blissfully unaware from behind point blank, it will absolutely 1 shot, its just not the most ideal

I myself ran the scorpion or mp5. 9mm is plentiful which helps, and mp5 can be given short stock / foregrip , small mag, and light spring to make it acceptable at longer range shooting and capable in a small firefight, while taking up far less inventory space than most guns.

I always ran a 45 myself, you can use the cheap one for a while, but a more expensive model will perform better.
Not the P320.

But I do like using the MP5SDD and Silenced 45 UMP.

The feeling of power when you've emptied a map and no-one is any wiser is amazing.

Really needs more panic dialogue/interactions.
Hiding in cupboards/toilets...badly, etc.
ump + .45 kit + .45 match

if you plan to social stealth levels (office, nightclub) then mac10 with reduced ROF mod as it is concealable, and it's still workable on other levels, but not as good as ump45

anything past 9mm is usually a two-tap, 9 and below triple-tap on alerted opponents

I go Tactical Stealth with PKM. Hope there is a version with 800 ammo.

Wrong. In order to one shot, you must make sure your weapon is powerful enough, and enemy is not distracted in anyway.

As for myself, I always go for Remington and DP-12 with Slugs, and bring MK or M1191 as Secondary. Grenade, Flash and Molotov are my favourite. Flash is especially useful when you trying to let enemy attract attract attention of other enemies.
