Can you try placing the content of this zip http://188.138.113.72/SHARE/rpollice/DSWin8.zip into your STEAM\steamapps\common\Desperados Wanted Dead or Alive folder?

I installed those files to Desperados folder, but it did not help. Patch please.

W8.1 LOL
Don't blame the devs because you refuse to use another OS. The game works perfectly fine on W7. Been plying the gog release months ago.

The game's from 2001, what did you expect? To run perfectly fine on a crippled OS?

Some people, seriously...

Even than, if you just took the time to research you would know the game works perfect on xp, vista and w7. W8 is not included! To be demanding a patch is frankly arrogant.

Don't tell others not to buy the game, it works fine and it's an older game so sometimes you have to troubleshoot older games a little bit to get working on newer operating systems but complaining like that won't get you much help.

BlaBla...on "supported" Win7 give it the same problems...open your eyes before you talk stupid.

Alex,
For us and the external QA it works so I am trying to find whats the cause that it doesnt work for most of the users.

8.1 is 99% the same OS as 7. If you don't like 8 you don't like 7. Same interface, same drivers work for both and everyone works the same. So don't be an internet sheep.

Its not playable for me either. The mouse "flashes" and copies itself on the screen.
And the screen flashes.

On some graphic card it does flash. If you have an internal graphic chip you can try to use this.

Also please try this:

TBH the specs dont include windows 8 as a viable OS to play this. therefore you should have done some research before buying this. since this is an old game i would suggest that a patch is unlikely.
In other words you made a mistake... suck it up. theres no point just spamming how the game doesnt work when ultimately you didnt check to see if this would run on your OS

I also have windows 8 (laptop for school work) and I have tried downloading the file onto my computer and put it into the correct folder. I have also tried putting the game into compaidbility mode for every setting avalible to me. None of it has worked. My frame rate was slightly improved by the file but only marginally. I am really hoping to get into this game as I was too young to play this when it was released. Any work around, patchs, files etc would be much aprechated as the game seems awesome. Also unlike a lot of people I have no problem with the cinimetics just the game play is at 1-5 frames per second.

I run it at about 0.1 FPS.

I have Windows 8.1 and after nearly a year of trying different things and researching till my eyes bled i now have Desperados and Robin Hood working flawlessly with no frame rate drop , download a programme called D3DWindower add the games execs to it and run them as Direct X 1-7 and Ddraw Colour Emulator and Ddraw Colour Converter checked, i have also lowered my resolution on my widescreen monitor which has a native resolution of 1920x1080 to 1024x768 so the window fills the entire screen if anyone knows any other workaround to this or would like to fiddle with D3DWindower by all means . You may also have to use the 'Fonts' fix for Robin Hood which im sure youll find on these forums .This is no joke i know there has been an uproar about these 2 games on Windows 8 and just to be clear i am taking no credit for this as it was D3DWindower that made this possible . I hope it helps a whole load of ppl but for the meantime until something else may or may not be done i am extremely happy , Have fun all :D (I have the GoG versions , Steam Users let me know how you get on)

Can you explain that step-by-step for Robin Hood owners since apparently a lot of us are still trying to play this game?
