Allies and trading
So anyone figured how trading works? When meeting the other races (I met one so far), it says I can connect to their capital and trade and ally with them. When I do so, a yellow bar is rising above their building and at some point they go amok on the aliens... but beside that, anyone know how they work and what the yellow bar means?

Trading costs 50 work/cycle
Once the yellow bar fills up, you're allied with them. They'll start slowly expanding, and will fight the Goo for you on their side of the map.

So basically they just defend you from the Goo for a price.
Thanks a lot for the answer!

I'm highjacking this post, how do you connect with them? I've built road up to their big building and nothing then

It doesn't happen immediately, did you check to see if they end up allying with you after a period of time?

I tried it twice. In the first game it worked perfectly, i connected a road and was allied.
I even managed to ally 2 tribes.
However, in the next game i tried it again, making sure not to attack any of them. I connected a road to their main building and nothing happened. I found a second main building from the same tribe, connected it too. Still, nothing happened.
I build connectors all the way around their main building, and it works every time it seems. You can see a small green + sign on their tribe logo on the top of the screen if it's working.

i never seen them expand but i did see them charge goo the moment i am allied. such action usually spawns/aggro even more goo and half a village gets decimated. that plus using aoe weapons near them tend to be catastrophic as tribes quite a challenge to kill early-mid game

The trick is to never use AOE weapons near them, actually. Just wall off their side and put some non-aoe turrets near them. Let them handle the defenses for you.
