I guess that's what they mean by rogue-lite?
Why would they choose that game model over the current one instead of making it a mode?
In DRG, we're miners and engineers.
In Rogue Core, we're a security force commando unit.
Our mission is to investigate Deep Dives from DRG that have lost communication, and figure out why so many deep dives have gone dark. Depending on what we find, mission objectives my escalate from there.
And of course Rogue Core has a bigger focus on increasing power as you play and engage with level ups, etc. as a criteria for a successful run.
Additionally it is also more flexible when it comes to class and equipment combinations. You can for instance have both a flamethrower and cryo cannon at once.
One of the dev's answer to a similar question, hope it helps.
