Change resolution to 16:9 and 1920x1080 (LINUX)
Hello,
I bought and installed Flockers today, it is awesome :)
But I have the problem that the resolution is either 4:3 or 16:10 (with only up to 1600xsomething). The post from http://steamcommunity.com/app/260330/discussions/4/35219681830545524/ with the local.cfg in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Flockers\CommonData does not work on Linux (folder structure in /home/luca/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Flockers looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/xW6MV2G.png , so no CommonData folder). I also tried creating a Local.cfg / local.cfg in a new folder called CommonData with template data (from another thread) but it didn't work either. local.cfg was not found too with the search feature of nautilus (the file explorer)...

Thank you for your help!

Hey Z3ntu,

I've just had a look at the games video settings and the following options should be available:
  • 16:9
  • 16:10
  • 4:3
  • Other

If you're only seeing some of these options, there might be a problem with the games local data, or a conflict between the game and your hardware.

The most useful bit of information to have at this point would be your monitors native resolution.
If you already know what this is, please locate the two, Default.cfg files in the following locations and adjust the /W: and /H variables accordingly:
  • /home/USERNAME/.steam/steam/SteamApps/common/Flockers/Main/Default.cfg
  • /home/USERNAME/.steam/steam/SteamApps/common/Flockers/Main/DataLINUX/Default.cfg
If you don't know the native resolution of your monitor, I can figure that out for you with a little system information.
To supply me with your system info, please run - “hardinfo”.

If you do not already have Hardinfo, please run:
apt-get install hardinfo

Once you have done this, please click Generate Report and save the
report as a .txt file type and include it in a response (please upload it to a text hosting site and post the link in this thread).

After I've had a look over your information, I'll do my best to recommend some more troubleshooting steps.

Thanks,
BenTeam17

So I changed /W and /H to 1920 & 1080 in both files. Now the game launches in 1920x1080, which is very nice, thank you! :)
Now in the graphics settings the only aspect ratios available are 16:9 and "other" right now, beforehand it was 4:3 and 16:10, very weird...
my hardinfo report is available here: http://128.199.32.197/hardinfo_report.html (it generated a html page, not a txt file)

Hey again Z3ntu,

Thanks for getting back to me with this.
I just checked the latest version of Hard Info and it does look like they've changed to HTML output. Fancy stuff.

It's great to hear that the issue is now resolved.
Odd that it was doing this in the first place though. I'm thinking it might be that the game was struggling to detect your two monitors for some reason.
Your full display is 3200 x 1080 (the combined width of both monitors and the greatest height of either) which might have confused the game somewhat if it is looking in the wrong place.

Also, your monitors both appear to have the native resolutions and aspect ratios below:
  • 1920x1080 pixels - 16:9 Aspect Ratio
  • 1280x1024 pixels - 4:3 Aspect Ratio

It might make sense if the game only offered these aspect ratios, but displaying 16:10 is odd.

I'll keep an eye out for this and take a closer look if the problem occurs for anyone else.
If you have any other problems, feel free to get back in touch.

Thanks,
BenTeam17
I just checked on my Laptop with one integrated display (1920x1080) and also only 4:3 and 16:10 were available to select. So it appears to be a Linux (at least Ubuntu 15.04 -wide) problem.

But still thanks for responding :)

I have this issue too.
$ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 2560 x 1440, maximum 16384 x 16384 VGA-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) LVDS-0 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 1920x1080 59.91 + 39.94 DP-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) HDMI-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) DP-1 connected primary 2560x1440+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 598mm x 336mm 2560x1440 59.95*+ 144.00 119.88 99.90 1920x1080 143.85 119.93 60.00 59.94 50.00 60.00 50.04 1680x1050 59.95 1600x900 60.00 1280x1024 75.02 60.02 1280x800 59.81 1280x720 60.00 59.94 50.00 1024x768 75.03 60.00 800x600 75.00 60.32 720x576 50.00 720x480 59.94 640x480 75.00 59.94 59.93
Yet I cannot select any 16:9 resolutions, so everything looks quite bad. I have to select 1600xsomething in windowed mode.
@boltronics Have you changed the config file(s)?
boltronics Dec 5, 2015 @ 5:02pm
I ended up manually editing the Default.cfg file so the W and H values were 2560x1440, and now the 16:9 menu option and a bunch of other resolutions that weren't available before have appeared in the manu.

BTW, I'm on Debian Jessie amd64, so this isn't a Ubuntu-specific problem.

Also happening here, and I won't consider it ‘solved’ until the game itself gets it right – editing configuration files may well work, but it's a workaround and not a proper fix.
I agree.
