Problems like that are really tricky. I've heard some other people have had issues like that too, but nobody seems to know what actually causes it. :/ Sorry I can't be of much help - I thought you might have had a puzzle problem (in that part of the game it took me a while before I suddenly realized how the paintings were involved), but you seem to have the story progression well in hand.
In a different thread, someone mentioned having talked to the lead designer of the game at a gaming convention recently, who had promised to look into this game's bugs and about getting a patch out. Hopefully that bears fruit soon so more people can get to enjoy the story to the end.

don't press move right and move up in same time. i mean, just stand on desk and close to wall, and press up, not with right.
i play this game on pc, game is awesome but that point was problem to me, like you. i pass that point like what i say to you.
