Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Any games similar to this game?
I have probably played through this game three or four times. I really do love and enjoy this game. Probably the best game I have ever played.

And I have been trying to find games similar to this one, but googling hasnt got me very far. So do you guys know of any rpgs or action rpgs similar to Vampire Bloodlines? I would really appriciate any game you guys could think of. I will check them out.

Finding another game Vampire: tMB is a pretty heavy task. I agree that Deus Ex is a great one if you havn't played it. I recommend the graphics update (http://www.moddb.com/mods/new-vision). It will about triple the size of the game folder, but it is beautiful. We have all silently agreed that the second game never actually happened. Another game to check out would be the Gothic series. Depending on how you played VtMB you might also enjoy Thief 3: Deadly Shadows.
The Witcher 2 is also a good RPG.
But I never played a game better than VTMB.
You've probably gotten a thousand suggestions by now, but I thought I'd add my two cents to the list.

Over the years, i've become quite fond of this specific type of game (games like VTMB and Deus EX). I name them, perhaps poorly,"Limited Open World CRPGs (Computer Role Playing Game)". I've gethered quite a collection of these, so allow me to share my list with you.

Listed in no particular order:

- Vampires the Masquerade: Bloodlines
- Deus Ex (Original)
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution
- System Shock Series
- Thief series
- Might and Magic VI through VIII
- Ultima Underworld
- Arx Fatalis
- Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
- E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy
- Bioshock series
- Dishonored

To note: Some of these titles are arguably not really rpgs never the less, they are all shining examples of the "Limited open world" genre

This game is one of the three greats along Deus Ex and System Shock 2, so check those out as well.

-The S.T.A.L.K.E.R series have that great imersive PC feel too, start with call of pripyat.

-Deus Ex: HR feels like a mix between DX 1 and Bloodlines, and brings the traditions of those games into current gen games.

- Fallout New Vegas and mass effect 1 and 2, while some what different in style, gives you great dialog options and story with immersive RPG worlds.

When it comes to Bioshock and Dishonored I got more of a HL feel from those, and was a bit disapointed, DX: IW was better than those for that classic PC action adventure RPG feel.
The Witcher!

I get the sense that it's the 'getting down and dirty' atmosphere, setting and gameplay of VTMB (which is so well explored through the story and your actions towards humanity) that you really enjoyed. Because of this, I think you will struggle to find a game that comes close. However, there are some good suggestions here.

If graphics aren't a problem, you may want to take a look at a game released in 2002 by JoWood Productions - Archangel. It's very linear, but has a dark narrative, atmosphere and settings. My copy, bought in 2002, has loaded and played fine on all the rigs I've had, so it could be worth checking Amazon or EBay.
The Deus Ex series and Alpha Protocol have similar gameplay elements but are in very different genres (Cyberpunk and Espionage, respectively). You might try looking up the Blood series of first-person shooters on GOG, too. They're not terribly similar but they have a similar tone and the second has a very oWOD-styled Gothic Punk feel.
I've also played this game a couple of times, and have yet to find anything else that captures the same perfect combination of atmosphere, writing, acting and gameplay. That said, I'd like to echo what other people have been saying, as well as add a few suggestions of games to look at. Dishonored and Deus Ex: Human Revolution both allow a similar freeform approach to missions. You can go in guns blazing, or stealth your way through. Additionally, although the stories/mission progression are/is linear, you are given a lot of room to explore and find secrets and alternate routes to your goal. While neither captures the essence of VtMB, both are super awesome in their own right. Additionally, check out the games by Obsidian, Inixile and Black Isle. Obsidian, Inixile and Troika (who made Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines) were all created after Black Isle was shut down, and so a lot of these studio's games have similar quality writing/design/gameplay. Fallout: New Vegas in particular gives you a pretty engrossing world, and your choices in character creation feel as though they impact what you can do in the game, i.e you can talk your way through a mission you might otherwise have had to shoot your way through. Finally, take a look at these upcoming games:

-Dead State (written/produced by Brian Mitsoda, who wrote VtMB)
-Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenara (both by Inixile)
-Pillars of Eternity (by Obsidian)

Wasteland 2 and Dead State are both in Early Access. I don't know whether or not they are any fun yet, but I'm sure you can find previews and videos of them both online.
tl;dr
Go play Dishonored, Deus Ex:HR and Fallout New Vegas, because they are awesome. ;)
Sadly, nothing compares to this game. As some have previously mentioned, there's great RPGs such as Fallout 1&2 but VtMB is unique. There's simply no other game that comes close to it. :squirtmeh:
Been reading thru this thread hoping to find another VTMB type game too Insigne's comments.....dead on dude!!!! The absolute worst/best game I've ever played! For me, the attraction wasn't really about beating the game but to actually roleplay the character. VTMB & Deua Ex1 allowed me to do that like no other game tho the Elder Scrolls series comes closest if you like Fantasy type games.
Deux Ex was actually the game that got me to try VTMB, so I definitely recommend it. However, if you do get DE, you really owe it to yourself to install the New Vision mod. It greatly improves the graphics. It was a slight pain but it was worth it. The graphics are still a notch below VTMB but far better than the original, whose graphics were mediocre even for the time it was released.

I'll second Dark Messiah. It's a surprisingly beautiful game when maxed out (easy to do on today's hardware). The fighting is very fun. I definitely recommend playing a hand-to-hand character and avoid the ranged weapons as they make the game too easy.

You might check out The Witcher series. It's very story driven, and there are similar themes of factions vying for survival and control and you have to choose which side you're going to be on. In Witcher 2, these choices totally change about 15 hours of gameplay, so a lot of people replay and choose the other side. The setting is completely different from VTMB, as it's set in a medieval fantasy kind of setting.
If similarity is the key word of your thread, in my opinion, your choices should be divided into three categories: vampire lore, role playing and atmosphere. If you are searching for a game with interesting vampire lore to dwell into then I strongly recommend the Legacy of Kain saga (mainly the first two games). Nosgorth universe might be outdated but remains immersive.
From the role playing aspect, I recommend the Mass effect trilogy since you will meet many interesting npcs to communicate with. Each one of them with a story worth listening to; such as in Bloodlines.
Finally, if you want a game that can absorb you completely with its atmosphere (scary and formidable), then System shock 2 is a nice example of such an atmospheric game.
I hope I helped. Good evening.

Thanks Vintage,I'll most likely play SS2 eventually. It looks promising.
I really appriciate the fact that this theard is still up and running! I have been kind of bad on answering because I have moved, so I do apologize for that.

And thank you guys for all of the good recommendations you guys have given me so far. This thread actually made me purchase Deus Ex & Deus Ex: Human Revolution, so yeah - thats something! I really enjoyed Human Revolution too, it was a great game.

And for everybody that is recommending The Witcher and Dark Messiah, I have played them both, and they are some great games. Freaking love those games!

I've also tried Mass Effect, which I didnt like too much. I dont know why I didnt like it, because I usually like games like that. But I have tried the first and the second one, they just didn't satisfy me, haha.
