Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Attempting guns
I rolled a Toreador and decided I would try using guns as my primary combat skill. 'tis quite difficult, especially in the beginning. Anyone have much experience with this kind of play? Does it get easier or progressively harder?

Guns generally suck against anything that isn't mortal. I've only ever pulled out my shotgun against kine, and I really hate how the last boss fight forces you to whip out the irons.

Generally, I'd say it doesn't so much stay hard as it stays unyieldy and unsatisfying.

I played a Toreador gunfighter and loved it! Max out Celerity and Firearms and maybe Persuasion to get peaceful solutions whenever possible. Later on you'll get some powerful guns and even boss fights are no problem. I don't know which last boss fight WeaselBiggs means, but two of them are easier using firearms because a) the one enemy is always in range and b) the other enemy stays one enemy only ;)...

I know which bosses you're talking about. I've finished this game several times before repurchasing it for steam. I'm interested in joining the Sabbat this go around. My last guy was nice and good and I almost joined them to see how that affected things but I backed out at the last second. This time I will join them and see what happens.
A Toreador gunfighter was probably my favorite character when I first played this game. A female too...Which is odd for me in most games when given a gender choice. Just seemed to fit though.

I also rarely had issues with boss fights. :/

My experience with the guns has been a bit lack luster, but I havent really gone indepth with it. I am trying to do another attempt at the guns and just wait to get a shotgun to go against the ninja guy near the front of the game. However, my other attempts have gone in disaster as he blitzs up to you and my little hand gun is no match. Hopefully the shotgun works better...

Late game I found guns to be OP. Early game, they suck. The .50 Caliber Handgun is probably the best gun in the game. It hits kine & kindred for a ton of damage, has a fast fire rate & quick reload but you don't get that till near the end of China Town, unless of course if you use cheats.

If you want to use guns I suggest using the Clan Quest mod. It has great new gun mechanics & weapon changes. Also, no limit to how fast you can fire your weapon. I hated having to wait 2 seconds each time I fired my .38. It also makes weapons more lethal so kindred (including you) will take more damage from guns.

You can find the Clan Quest mod here.

Pretty much this. Although even without the mod you're still good to go. Guns are just a slow start but become rather solid after a bit of advancement. Until then the game is generally easy enough imo.
