Unofficial patch alternatives

Essentially my compuyer is telling me the 8.8 unofficial pach seems malicious so is there a way to fix the less than 15mb issue via tinkering with the files or can people vouch for the safety of this or been told it is malicious and found it not to be etc. Appreciate the help.

Mine did the same. It's a false-positive. It's not malicious. Tell your computer it's lying to you. Your anti-virus should have an exceptions list.

Well, maybe it might be malicious if you got it from somewhere other than patches-scrolls or their mirrors.

I installed it the other day, got same thing and ignored, I wouldn't worry as long as you downloaded from a major site (e.g.patches-scrolls.de)

It seems as if Norton Antivirus is blocking the patch just because The Patches Scrolls site is not know to it. There is no virus in the patch, just download the file and check it yourself!

An actual alternative to the Unofficial Patch is the True Patch Gold, which patches the game to play exactly the way it was meant to be played, but with little to no glitches and improved resolution. The base game is a bit too easy though.

Please do not install the Camarilla Edition on top of the UP 8.8! This is bound to break something sooner or later. If The Patches Scrolls is slow for you, you will find alternative download locations in other threads. Also the "True Patch" does not patch "the game to play exaclty the way it was meant to be played". It only keeps it in the unfinished state it was released in ;).

The last info I have is that the CE will no more be updated for new UP versions. Can you link me to a page that says otherwise?

Sorry wesp, i didin't realize it was you, I withdrew my previous statements, and made a fresh install of the game, with your patch. Keep up the good work.

P.S. later play throughs infact did seem like the game broke at times, missing music in clubs, stuttering, and missing dialog. Let's try play through #4 and mabey this time i can get to hollywood without bugs and B.S.
