Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Getting rid of the silly dialogue fonts
Is there any way to get rid of the skill/classed based font variety in dialogue options? I don't mind the colours, it's just the hard to read crazy text that I don't want.

Thanks.

Edit: I don't just mean the Malkavian font, I mean all the font varieties that appear.

you get the crazy part if you play malkavian, I don't know a way around that, and the colors, help you since they are skill related, so you know what you are doing, blue convince, pink seduce, and green threaten.
The problem isn't the color, it's the font style.

I one time saw a glitch that removed the font style. But I don't know how I glitched the game. Oh, it was so pleasant, especially because I was Malkavian at the time.

I read somewhere,I think was the tutorial, that smaller resolutions removed the fonts but not the color.

Yes, play the game at 800x600 and the special fonts are gone...

I have actually some across a mod variant which removes the crazy Malkavian text, however ModDB is super slow for me right now so I can't link it.

I think the crazy malkavian text font fits...the crazy malkavian.

@Azrael: What AJ said, I want to keep the colour so that I can tell special options from standard ones - I just want to get rid of the stylised fonts.

@wesp5: Yeah, I knew that... and that makes me think it's possible to edit a file to stop the fonts kicking in at higher resolutions. Any ideas?

@EEEKitties!: Let me know if you find it, thanks.

I found the mod, however it's part of the hard difficulty mod so I'm not sure if it will require that, but I suppose it's worth a shot trying it without it on another install folder.

Me too, but I could understand if say, dyslexic people have a hard time reading it.

Oh... I don't actually mean just the Malkavian font. I am getting weird fonts for certain skill-related dialogue options, (like a weird pink cursive font) whilst playing Toreador.

I'll take a look at that mod and see if there's anything in there that has anything in there that helps.

Yeah the font can be pretty hard to decipher, particularly Dementation and Seduction. Intimidate and Persuasion are pretty easy to read.
Wouldn't mind a change for this too.

Yeah, it fits. But it's annoying and makes it difficult to read. It's cool on the first playthrough, but the fourth or fifth time through, I just want to be able to read the text easily.

Of course at that point I can almost hit the right dialogue keys by heart.

Okay, I think I know what I need to do, but I'm not sure how long it will take. If anybody knows anything about modding, please correct me...

I need to unpack the VPK files to see the contents of Vampire > Materials > Fonts, copy the standard font and rename and overwrite the varieties I don't want.

I'm not sure if whether this will also overwrite the colour data, but I'll experiment if I get chance.
Unpacking the vpk is good, I can't tell you whether that's the right folder to check but it's a good start. You don't have to re-pack the vpk, if you want a file to override one in the vpk just add it to the folder structure. vpk is loaded first, folders are loaded second.

Yeah, I got that much, but thanks. I think it is the right folder... but there's an overwhelming amount of files in there and I don't have the time or patience to go through it all, so I'll probably just leave the fonts as they are.

That's a bit lazy?

I just did the same and there's fonts called "Vamp_Dialog_Base", "Vamp_Dialog_Malkavian", "Vamp_Dialog_Dementation", "Vamp_Dialog_Domination", "Vamp_Dialog_Persuasion", "Vamp_Dialog_Seduction" and "Vamp_Dialog_Intimidate".

I assume I just copy Vamp_Dialog_Base and use it to replace all the others of the same font size?
