I didn't really enjoy my Night At The Library
Am I the only one who is sort of confused by what this quest is suppose to be about and think it's a little... off? I went through it and so on, figured out the secret door stuff and had the cutscene with the suited guy that appeared briefly during an earlier quest.

Who is he suppose to be, you see him once earlier with no context and then there's this big whole speech (Which by the way feels as if it's missing all context) and then a boss fight, and after that you find out it's a Sabbat ritual because the game subtitles saying you stopped it, but no indication of anything before that.

I saw people discussing that it's related to the Andrei stuff, which thematically I guess makes sense when you look at that ritual room, but I never saw him or fought him or anything like like that, if he was there, he wasn't there long enough to actually notice.

I believe most of it was restored from an unfinished thing, but it's definitely one of those things that just feels really off all the way through it.

Andrei is the leader of the local Sabbat. The man you meet when you find the serial killer and again in the library mission is a Lasombra, one of the two primary Sabbat Clans. He's likely an underling or co-worker of Andrei's and based on the ritual room and the coffin in the middle, you basically stopped the Lasombra from waking up a /very/ powerful old Sabbat vampire they were trying to revive/awaken to get some super dangerous, powerful back up. The vampire you save in the mission who says "I'd get the ♥♥♥♥ outta here!" and poofs was likely meant to be the sleeping elder's breakfast once awake as certain vampires, once they reach a certain age, get a taste for the blood of other vampires instead of humans.

A lot of that I was able to piece together afterwards, but it just felt like it was presented abruptly/without much context so it comes across a bit strange.

Well it was something that was never finished/implemented by Troika. Wesp5, iirc, found the stuff for it within the game's files and decided to make use of it. Hence the rather...subpar(aka very bad) voice acting on the Lasombra's part. I'm guessing that was a fan, much like the security guard in the tutorial(Plus Patch only I think).

Given that it is restored content, having been completely cut from the final game, it may not feel as polished and contextualized as it could be. I´m just happy that it was restored at all.

heh I kinda liked the voice acting Gentleman

The main reason the Plus version of the patch isn't recommended for first time players.

I already knew about the lore of Sabbat and I knew they would be wanting the coffin too. So I did expect some scene with them trying their hand at getting it so to me, I understood the Library scene would make scene to me. Them trying to bring it to life or something. But what I didnt like... SPOILER STOP READING... is that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Nos in the elevator... scared me ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!

That line was actually aready hidden in the game files and not done by a fan. Still I agree with you that maybe the quest needs some more exposition. Any suggestions to improve it?

Update: I explained a little bit more in Beckett's email now. How about this?

Hello young one... a contact of mine noticed a Lasombra in town recruiting kindred for the Sabbat. He followed him to the LA public library but has vanished there. As I am preoccupied, maybe you can take a look. We wouldn't want all that knowledge harmed, would we? You can enter through the sewers, but please refrain from attracting attention by killing everyone or something similar in your style.

Hello again... my contact told me that you interrupted one Sabbat initiation ritual at the library that almost got him killed. He will arrange that there won't be another chance for something like this there. Needless to explain that it might not be that astute to tell anyone about the affair.

Yeah that definitely seems like it would clue in the average player a bit more onto what's going on down there, I've played through VTMB about 4 or 5 times since the week it was released and so I'm fairly familiar with how the game tends to do things and that quest just stood out like a sore thumb, considering most of it was unfinished and not even in the game, it's pretty damn good, part of me just feels like it may not have been worth restoring considering how little was there, but I guess that's why the +Patch exists.

I really enjoy most of the stuff that's restored and really feel like some of the things I've come across could have fit just fine in the basic patch (Even as someone who gets OCD about playing purist), but I guess that too would bug people.

Good. I planned it like this: when you first meet the Lasombra at the junkyard he is going after the serial killer, who would have made a fine Sabbat. Then later in the library the first guy you kill is actually the doorman of the plaquebearer brotherhood, so this would have been his initiation ritual!

I always wondered why that doorman just vanished. Guess we didn't eliminate the entire Brotherhood then?

After the library quest we did :)! But I always wondered if the brotherhood wasn't already a part of the Sabbat. The title bishop is typical for them...

Sabbat? Brother you gotta open your mind! The Brotherhood isn't part of Sabbat.

Why is their leader called "Bishop Vick"? Bishop is the title for a Sabbat Primogen. Coincidence? Maybe Andrei was the Archbishop of LA and Vick and the library Lasombra were his bishops...
