I chose Tremere and I want to use guns. Can you or anyone tell me what my history, attributes, skills, etc. should be?
This is what I repeat ad infinitum when someone asks a question like this.
It's an RPG and there is no wrong/right choices really. Pick whatever you find works best for you. There are skills that make the game easier but that shouldn't worry anyone - ever.
I disagree.
You need to invest in at least some combat skills, be it melee or firearms. I learned this the hard way on my first playthrough, breezed through the game with maxed out persuasion and charm, only to get absolutely wrecked on Ming Xiao.
You can kill Ming Xiao quite easily with some buffed up vamp. powers and a few blood packs.
Because you can't stealth your way later on I would say to invest in some combat skills or some of the better weapons (if you have a lot of money end-game) but despite what many may think: it's not hard as hard as one would suspect, esp. if you didn't waste them on partially upgraded weapons and melee skills, and focused them elsewhere.
Sure it's much easier to breeze through this game as a firearms expert though - no doubt. But even this game can be played in more than one way.
1. When creating your character, try to invest more available points into one skill rather than spreading them out.
2. When playing, spend them on a need to use basis.
While that's true I can certainly see how spending points in firearms is less of a risk than spending it elsewhere. It's so much easier to beat this game with firearms. But it's not the only way: and other builds are viable as well. It's just harder, but not too hard, if you spend and play wisely.
I don't think I've ever spent points on humanity. Dancing in each of the clubs across the hubs give you a humanity point + there's so many times you can get a humanity point back or a masquerade redemption.
