I Can't Stand Vampires

Or rather, I can't stand modern goth-flavored vampires, having always preferred the more traditional variety. I've heard a lot of good things about this game but I'm worried that my undead preferences may hinder my ability to enjoy it. I know this will sound like a really stupid question, but do you have to be into "goth-vamps" to enjoy this game?

No, you don't. Each vampire Clan(think sub-species) is based upon different vampire legends. Ventrue are the "aristocrats of the night", Nosferatu are the hideous monsters of Eastern European legend, Gangrel are the beastly creature who can become wolves or bats(No you can't in the game but they're still awesome), Toreador are the sedutive socialites, Tremere the dark wizards, etc. The world has some gothy flavor, but more in terms of being a dark and bleak world rather than being all sad and emo.

Anne Rice type, or Bela Lugosi Dracula, Gary Oldman in a top hat, those are described as "gothic"... Or do you mean vampires who wear makeup, only dress in black and listen to symphonic metal? ("goth "subculture)
I wouldn't call the teen vampire types popular today "goth" (Vampire Diaries, Twilight... though the Originals ones aren't too bad), sort of the opposite since goth style/subculture is derived from classic horror.

I rewatched the movie Blade I these days and it made me install this game again. If you ever watched it it's a little similar (though the OP super cool Wesley Snipes character is optional), the council of vampire leaders, vampires everywhere, having to blend in and hide, humans serving vampire lords, etc.
I always thought of Vampire the Masquerade as a bit modern punk-goth.

with "goth" I think you mean emo, vampires are goth, no way around it. The vampires in this game are monsters, more like Dracula than Edward. You won't find any quests here where your main mission is to sparkle in the sun, save kittens and romance teenagers.

This is vampires done right, as far as I'm concerned. Werewolves are also featured and done right - but they're not so prominent in this game.

Pick it up and I'm sure you'll love it. Don't forget to grab the Unofficial Patch 9.2 as well.
