Overwriting Patches
So, might be a dumb question, don't know. If I have an older patch installed and want to use 9.2 now, should I install the new patch normally? I have no idea what are the risks of bugs and stuff like that. Any help is appreciated.

I think you can overwrite it, but it isn't recommended, not by Wesp5 atleast.
I also wouldn't recommend it, since it permanently borked up the tremere clan for me (had to remove every trace of the game and reinstall it).

Installing newer patches over old versions is a surefire way to screw your game up. You need to uninstall VtMB, delete the VtMB folder within your Steam folder, reinstall the game and then install your new patch. I also recommend after you reinstall the game BEFORE you install the new patch, copy the VtMB folder and place the copy elsewhere on your PC. It will save time when you need to do this again.

Installing a recent Unofficial Patch over an older one should normally create no issues as the same files are updated. This is not true for installing a patch over a mod or vice versa!

I see. is it possible to keep save files?

Nope, you have to lose them. It's not good to continue an old save on new patches anyway. There end up being bugs that completely break the game. I had UP 8.9 installed and upgraded to UP 9.1 some months ago. I continued my old save game and ended up running into a bug that required me to start all over.

That's different! You need to start a new game, but you don't need to reinstall the game.

Got it. Oh well, characters will be missed. R.I.P.
Thanks a lot!

Installing a newer version shouldn't cause problems no, but I find it best to have a clean game prior to installing a patch regardless.

That being said: you shouldn't have any problems. Definetly start a new save game though!!
