Yes. BUY IT NOW OR YOU WILL REGRET IT FOREVER.
Think Deus Ex with Vampires. PC Gamer and a few websites have said this is a pure-classic and easily the best vampire-werewolf game of all time IMO.
Is it Linear or free roam? thanks!
Guys can i patch a steam version?

Of course. The UP 9.0 works just as it works with retail copies. I've tested it on both my retail + Steam copies btw.

Well Deus Ex was linear too, in that the story forced you through each of the different hub worlds. In this game you can quick-travel between places, tackle objectives your way and sell/buy items like you would in any RPG.

I'd say it's non-linear but not open-world like Skyrim.
I'll be honest. A lot of it is nostalgia. The gameplay (combat system) itself is kinda meh compared to similar games. But for 5 bucks it's definitely worth it, it's just not the messiah of gaming as some people make it out to be

Something in the middle. You can free roam in each hub, but the hubs open up one after another and the story of course is linear, otherwise is couldn't be as great as it is!
I started this game few days back, and for me its one, of the the best RPG's I have played till now! Definitely worth it! But, well, it depends on what type of a gamer you are, If you like RPGs and dont mind a bit of dated graphics you would surely like it.
I'll put it this way: Until a couple of years ago I didn't have a PC at home(Grew up with Macs, living with folks again due to two years of unemployment etc) and a friend's dad gave me his old rig when he upgraded two years ago. I have wanted to play this game since I heard about it in 2005. I had friends who hyped it, I saw forums, youtube videos, etc. When VtMB went on sale last Halloween I snatched it up and I have never regretted it. The game is beautifully written, well-connected to the source material, and despite the dated graphics the story and characters make up for it.
It takes a bit of effort to get up and running, at least for me as im pretty useless on computers just a good gamer. Theres guides on here that help you through it.

I saw it on steam sales and checked it out, soon as i saw what it was about i was interested so bought it.

Not regreted it one bit. The game is amazing. Instant classic for me, surprised i was so late to the party on this one.

For me --> it's the writing + the lore. Great atmosphere, plays similar to a Deus Ex game and has vast replayability with each of the different clans.

I wouldn't say nostalgia is the sole reason for this game being so loved. I recently got 2 of my mates playing this and even though they admitted, like you, that the combat system was weak... they've finished it and called it one of their best games. Of course, to fully appreciate this game you must understand this was released a while back - before Half Life 2 and that it is a little buggy here and there.

Agreed. I started it few days ago and Its one of the best rpgs I played till now. Nostalgia had nothing to do with it.
Speaking as someone who played Bloodlines for the first time a few years ago and for whom the game has no nostalgic associations at all-- I think it's absolutely worth getting if you're patient, love RPGs of this type (that is, the vaguely Deus Ex type), and don't mind a game that's really rough around the edges with some serious gameplay faults. Just know you'll be playing it for the story, setting, and role playing flexibility, and not for the combat or stealth. At all.

Like Deus Ex and many other games, Bloodlines is much better than the sum of its parts, but I don't think it's aged as well as a lot of games that are even older than it, due to the unfinished development. Still excellent in many regards, though.

I would like to disagree. With the Unofficial Patch plus a lot of unfinished content has been restored and just comparing the Chinatowns of Bloodlines and Deus Ex clearly shows, that Bloodlines is still the superior game in every effect!
