It doesn't last too long(usual canon for the PnP game was about 1 hour of game-time) or one 'scene"(aka if you spend 15 mins in one place then hop locations, it's assumed the BoL has worn off in transit). If you look you will actually have lost some blood after sex with Jeanette, so I've always assumed it was the game's little homage to the Blush of Life mechanic.
Ahhhh, cool. Man, VtM's vamp lore is quickly becoming my favorite.
As far as I know the best place to read the lore is from the roleplaying game's books. A lot of those books contained a LOT of story stuff. There were also a couple of "just for lore" books made like an actual Book of Nod and there was another book that was supposed to be written by Lilith herself.
Otherwise if you want to know about some things, you can message me here on Steam and I'll do my best to retell things as best as I can recall.
NOTE: If you decide to get the books somehow, make sure you get the Old World of Darkness stuff. Things for Vampire: The Masquerade, NOT Vampire: The Requiem or anything New World of Darkness.
You can acquire all the books as PDFs from there, or order soft/hardback copies by mail. I just noticed that the guy who was in charge of the world of darkness MMO project in Atlanta (McDonough) is one of the founders.
As for "how does vampire sex work", well, technically same as humans. However vampires have to prepare themselves a bit more since their bodies are essentially corpses. They can however use blood to reanimate essential parts of their body (as mentioned before, called 'blush of life') and perform the functions humans take for granted. This may take some getting used to for a new fledgling vampire. Also taking pleasure from sex is not a default. Drinking blood takes over as the new pleasure for every vampire. Some vampires may still enjoy sex, others don't care anymore. Toreadors are the most human-like of the VTMB clans and so this is more common for them than others.
ps. For getting rulebooks, keep in mind that there is a divide between the "old world of darkness"(vampire: the masquerade) and "new world of darkness" (vampire: the requiem). VtMB is based on the old.
nWoD is Vampire the Requiem, not Redemption. Just so you don't think Requiem is something you're looking for.
ps. I dont consider requiem bad even if I prefer masquerade now.
Requiem's fine for the most part, I've played it for years since it came out and even STed a bunch. I just think VtM has better history and lore. VtR was a bit too open ended for my liking.
Even in-game the way VTM:B portrays vampire sex is inconsistent and contradictory, because if your character is female, you can have sex with the ghoul guarding the graveyard in Hollywood (at least if you're Toreador, not sure about other clans).
Apparently blood gives so much pleasure that their sex drive just goes down and even disappears entirely.
Vampires with sex drive seems to be a rarity and most of them appear to be Toreadors due to their clan traits and Malkavians because they are Malkavians.
In the intro the player character has sex(a very very long one apparently) with their sire regardless of gender and clan.
They can have made themselves appear hot if they want.
