Recommended mods?
Besides the patch mod that I see pinned here (thank you EeeKitties) I'd like to know if there are any further modding that needs to be done or would make the experience better. Better graphics or tweaks etc. Also take note that I only just bought this game and I'm trying to figure things out. Thank you for your replies and happy gaming!

I wouldn't bother with any of the environment texture mods, they didn't improve much and they made my game have some visual clipping on some stuff the one time I tried. The Eye Replacer Mod is built into the UP now, which is something Wesp added due to my constant recommendation of it. There's also some texture mods to make the clothing of major NPCs like Lacroix and Jeanette be more realistic I like to use. I also like using the skins for the hooker NPCs since imo the base ones are so hideous, no one would want to pay them for sex.
Obtenebris gave you a pretty good reply. If and when you're done with the small mods, you might want to check our the major overhaul mods (do note that none of the big mods are compatible with each other as they all use a different version of the Unofficial Patch as a base):

The Unofficial Patch 9.3 (without any plus options ticked in the patch installer) is highly recommended for a first playthrough of the game, providing you've never experienced it before or beat it all the way to the end. It's the most extensive and up-to-date patch there is for this game and also gives you native widescreen.
Once you've beat the game, re-run the patch installer and this time tick the plus content when you're applying it. You'll need to start a new game (otherwise you'll experience bugs) but the amount of restored content and tweaked gameplay will make it heavily worth it.

Companion Mod - a mod I hadn't got to experience until recently and it's actually not too shabby (it does use a really old version of the Unofficial Patch, ~5.4, and it'll probably never get updated). This mod allows you to recruit and enslave many NPCs in the game and store them in your haven where you can pose them and do a whole heap of things with them really. The main purpose of the mod is to allow you to take 2 NPCs with you who will serve as combat allies and a free food source. What I really liked about this mod was the voice splicing - just awesome. Your allies will occassionally spit out lines that feel like they've always been a part of the game (the mod authors simply cut and paste bits of dialogue to form sentences but they just sound so natural). In addition to all of this you can choose to sire one NPC that'll become your childe (you can only do this with either Heather or that asian girl from Chinatown).

Clan Quest Mod - the best mod next to the Unofficial Patch and one I'll continually recommend without any hesitation (huge fanboy here). I've done 2 playthroughs with this mod and plan to do another soon (this mod will get updated to use one of the latest Unofficial Patches - 9.2 - it uses 7.9 right now). The mod features some of the best fan voice acting I've ever heard in a mod; I haven't played a super-duper amount of mods so it's possible there's even better stuff out there. Still, semi-professional voice actors voice both old and new characters for the mod and the voice actors who impersonate the original characters do a fantastic job for the most part. There's 12 new big quests that are all designed extremely well, are clan-specific and deal with the VTM lore. As the site reports there's 20 new NPCs, new cutscenes, an in-game "achievement system" of sorts and a saucy scene with VV that vanilla players never got -- the highlight for many players. It's important to remember that the Clan Quest Mod also integrates a lot of other minor mods such as the companion mod (although it's not as expansive as the original mod and is called a "lite version") , the VTMB music mod, aresnal mod (new weapons, sounds, textures), Camarilla Edition (overhauls the gameplay and game rules drastically) and more.

The Final Nights - I've only done 1 and a bit of a playthrough but this mod is a nice attempt at giving us something different. New clans (which replace the original 7) are the main focus but the story remains the same mostly. Some new quests, some fan voice acting (the voice acting I've heard so far is great and there's no problems here), new disciplines which were all very cool from memory and a lot of new mechanics which were reasonably interesting to see. The only downside to this mod is the clan models - they're more or less reskins of the original clan models - but you can see the mod author's put in lots of effort and has listened to feedback also. While it uses a relatively early version of the Unofficial Patch: the mod author's fixed a lot of the bugs himself that the newer Unofficial Patches have fixed himself. Definetly worth a peek if you're curious.

Antitribu - this mod was a long one in the making and suffered due to the immense hype that surrounded the mod prior to release. Right now it's very buggy, crash-y, and everything else inbetween. To their credit the devs made the mod a lot more stable and fairly better within a short timespan and there's been 3 hotfixes/patched issued as of today (there's still supposed to be a major patch coming, which will bring a lot of the promised features). Antitribu is like The Final Nights: 7 new clans but most of the models look different to the original clan models. There's also a *huge* increase in difficulty which some like and some will downright hate. The difficulty's somewhat arbitrary because most enemies have way more hitpoints and you'll get swatted like a fly most of the time. But it's important to note Antitribu brings new and different guns that do change the balance and Antitribu is primarily a combat-focused mod which it's never really tried to hide IMO. I enjoyed the difficulty as VTM:B's was a breeze for me but it's something I felt I should warn people about. Anyway, Antitribu has new quests (some are a bit iffy in their design but some were also fixed from patches/hotfixes), voice acting and quite a lot that more, and it's arguably the most ambitious mod for VTM:B. A good reason for using Antitribu though, might just be that it incorporates the full Companion Mod in a nice manner and has seemingly given us a few new costumes for NPCs we can recruit as well as seemingly fixing many original bugs that existed in the original mod. Don't go in hyped but expect to be surprised at least once all-the-same.

Sounds like Antitribu isn't going to be something I'd like. I already feel like I'm not very good at the combat. I installed the unofficial mod but the installer was in Russian so I believe I just downloaded the default stuff and the 'read me' portion. But I'm sure it was the 9.3 build. It was nice that it was automatic. Would you recommend the Clan Quest Mod as a second playthrough? I haven't gotten too far in vanilla. Just got out of the prosthetics place and now I'm running an errand for the very excited and talkable 'ghoul'. I'm definitely enjoying the experience so far. The voice acting is done really well and I can't wait to see how the story unfolds. I love the take on the lore too.

I'd be lying if I said Antitribu isn't gun-heavy: it is, and the game was ~3x harder for me.

Would I recommend CQM? Absolutely. It recently got updated too, so you should have next-to-no issues with it. It's often hailed as one of the best mods for this game.

I'm really glad you're enjoying the game. It's definetly a game that does vampires justice and is one of my personal favourites. The lore is indeed quite interesting too (I really should get to reading the VtM books one day).

P.S. I'd also do a U.P. plus playthrough if you haven't already. The restored content is definetly worth it (esp. if you decide to go with the Malkavian clan).

Nope for this first playthrough I went with what was recommended after answering the questions which was.....well I already can't remember the name. It's the 'mage' clan basically and they're the only normal looking vampires in my opinion. Figured I'd start with them. And what is U.P. Plus? A NGP basically?

The plus version of the Unofficial Patch which you can select while installing, not only fixes bugs but also restores lost and unfinished content. Among these some side quests and new maps!

Wesp gave you a good explanation but anyway: I recommend another playthrough just with the Malkavian clan (and U.P. plus) because there's so much cool stuff that you don't get to experience with the other clans.

Alright will do. Although again when I used the installer it was all in Russian so I wouldn't have been able to activate it. Otherwise I would have right from the start. Thank you though that's good to know. :)

You can rerun the patch installer and select "plus" when you've finished your current playthrough (do be sure to start a new game though) without needing to reinstall the game.

Could you tell me where to get those latter ones? I know of the mods for steet NPC's but major characters....

A mod for improving model skins for major characters like Jack, Jeanette, Beckett would be great if it would be built into the UP + patch by default.
Very huge dissonance in particular felt for Jeanette when her upper part (designed for conversations) is HD while the lower torso, legs looks like it's from VTM: Redemption!

I'm feeling to slowly replay Bloodlines again. However after 10+ years of enjoying it, mods are a must in order to spice things a little after all.
Looking now at CQM, Antribu, Last Nights - hard to figure out what's what and which are worth touching....
Cyotey Sep 3, 2016 @ 11:59am
Why not try all of them? Or will they clash with each other?

Yes they will. I found that out the hard way. Same with UP and with mods. Thing is that many mods have their own vision that often leaves the story the same.
The coolest thing I played thus far was CQM 3.0 but I will wait for 4 to install again.

Right now thinking... What to take, Antribu, The last nights or the latest up? No idea at all which ones should be better because Antribu is really hard as I heard.

Can anyone confirm if the Final Nights is easier?
I'm just in for new content but keeping combat at minimum when possible.

Clan Quest Mod, Unofficial Patch, Antitribu and Camarilla Edition are the only mods which use the modloader (so in theory, they can all be installed with no conflicts - just make sure to start a new game when you decide to launch a different mod with its own subfolder shortcut).

If you're undecided on which mods are worth touching and which are not, refer to post #2 on this thread :D
