Vampire the Masquerade bloodlines, Comp Mod and Unofficial Patch 9.4 possible?
Haven't played this game and years and was very excited to download it again. One of the aspects I enjoyed the most was the Companion Mod, which won't run with steam. I found the Unofficial patch 9.4 that makes the game run beautifully on my computer, but doesn't seem to work with the Comp Mod. Anyway to make these both run?

Patched Mod

Companion Mod is built upon Wesp's Basic Unofficial Patch *and Includes the latest stability fixes from the 1.2 Official Patch. When installing this mod, you need only install VTMB and the Companion Mod. No other mods or patches should be installed. (See Installation section for details). It has been tested with the Retail, Steam and Digital Distributions of the game on both Windows XP, Vista 32 and Vista 64.

* U.P 5.6/6.0

Okay wait.... I'm swear I'm stupid lol but what do you mean by "You onlu need to install VTMB and the Companion mod"? Do you mean, I should download the mod, install it first then do the patch? Or patch it first then download and install the mod?

Install the Comp Mod over a vanilla VTMB install only. If you've already added the Unofficial Patch to your VTMB install, you should manually delete your Bloodlines folder and everything in it, then perform a clean install. (make a backup of the clean install Bloodlines folder, before adding the Comp Mod, for convenience.)

Yeah that was my problem. I install Comp Mod over vanilla vtmb, and did the comp mod patch. Then the game wouldn't open because it said "Cannot find steam"

I forgot that the Comp mod had a comp mod patch 1.4 . You probably installed it correctly, hold on for FTFS remedy .....

Can you try these 4 solutions instead and report back:

> run the game from the Steam library
> run vampire.exe (game's shortcut) as admin.
> run vampire.exe AND Steam as admin.
> copy the steam.dll file from C://Program Files/Steam/ and paste it into C://Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines/

What is a FTFS remedy? lol

Failed to find Steam.... copy pasting the steam.dll, as written above, seems to work well.

So, you need A vanilla VTMB, comp mod, comp mod patch 1.4. That should be all.

Thanks for trying to help me, but now it just crashes at new game

Back-up vampire.exe that's in the Bloodlines folder. Install Unofficial Patch 9.4..... to "new folder" on desktop, try copy/pasting vampire.exe from U.P9.4, to bloodlines folder, permit overwrite.

You do mean unofficial patch 5.6 right?

No, 9.4 vampire.exe Sorry, was tweaked to help bypass the check that causes new game crash.

Paste vampire.exe, not vampire.dll

The vampire.exe from 9.4 is currently the only version that is tweaked to help this issue.

hold for other options... http://steamcommunity.com/app/2600/discussions/0/517142892070567695/
