Bro, what else did you expect from an almost 2 decade old game where the devs went out of business long ago. Just install the unofficial patch.

It is Steam's fault really. We tried to contact Valve about this issue years ago, but contrary to GOG, who included the basic Unofficial Patch into their release, Valve doesn't really care if the games on Steam run or don't run. More important is that you gave them their share for free!

GOG has the patch pre-installed, so if you're into the plug and play experience, buy it there.
Steam doesn't do that for some reason.

its really recommend you do you actually get to play missing content from the original. Also some of the bugs present in vanllia are more less fix with the patch

Damn chill, just install the patch or refund the game and get the gog version which has the patch already installed if its too much work for you to download something and navigate it to your folder.

Either way - the patch needs to be installed. OP is just having a fit over not having it installed by default. There is no "magic works out of the box" version of this game due to how old and buggy it is. Even at launch, this was like that.

So either get the GOG version which installs the patch for you if that's so important, or install the patch. It's just a double click, next, next, next, to get the game working...

I really don't understand what the drama is about.
