trojan in the unofficial patch
i got a trojan virus shortly after downloading the patch. no it was not just a warning, it was a trojan. i see alot of posts regarding this, and it always ends with the creator of the patch stating jolly wolly no it doesnt have a trojan, and discussion ends. so can someone tell me if the patch itself has a trojan or if its the moddb version that has a trojan.

possibly you could record a short video showing you downloading it and opening it? were is this file contained? i personally dont think wesp would tarnish his reputation over a trojan. but it would be a smart thing to do alot of youtuber download his patch and he could make a big buck if he acted on it. would be a real shame lol

it is pretty obvious that it does contain something malicious. a very strange coincidence that i had to hard wipe my computer because of a trojan virus right after the install of his patch. i am not going to reinstall it considering that lol.

its either in his pack or the moddb pack. im just trying to figure out if its safe to use his patch by downloading it from a different website or if its the pack it self.

Instresting . this makes me think that maybe I must be extremely lucky as I download from the site and I yet to get a trojan. I mean perhaps your pc was already infected as we all know Trojans are hard to get rid of as they can hide a copy of itself to other locations of your drive unless you clean your drive and others drives in safe mode but hey .

It's a false positive. Antiviruses always detected it as malicious, nothing ever happened.

Recently the guy who helped create the Game Mod Loader updated vampire.exe to get rid of some other hacked files to make it work. For whatever reason this file triggers some warnings, but I checked it on Virus Total and only 2 tools out of 70 flag it as a threat. In comparison, the original vampire.exe from Troika triggers 4 tools on the same site!

also bare in mind i am not here to start a ruckus, my grammar is not on point. i am simply curious to why in the world the moddb files are so iffy

No, Virus Total, which is a site you can use to check files with about 70 antivirus tools.

and the mod author never gives a proper answer. just that he has virus tested it. this has happened too often now that its far from a coincidence. and my question remains unanswered, is the moddb version muddy or is his file overall muddy.
(i am pretty sure wesp is a pretty solid person. so im going to assume its the moddb file that is crooked,or that the site overall has some funny automatic ads :Þ)

Do you trust GOG?
Cause that patch comes pre-installed on the GOG version.
GOG doesn't do malware.

I think this is a proper answer. The real question is why do you trust your antivirus software to be correct when over 50 others say the file is harmless? What software is this anyway?
