Edit: I should mention a couple things I noticed while watching a let's play of the game, they were also using the plus patch. A couple things happened in their game that didn't happen in mine. In my game I never got to have the initial conversation with Heather after meeting her back at my home for the first time because an event with her triggered before I ever got to speak with her, she had brought someone back to the house. So I never got to get to know her or tell her she was a vampire. Another thing I noticed is after he finished with the dane and got off the boat onto the beach, he was ambushed by a few thugs and that never happened in my game. I'm not sure if either of these can be fixed or are caused by the patch, i just thought I'd mention them.
Edit Edit: I'm recieving a crash and an error "bad inline model number 70" after updating when I try to go to the santa monica beach. Is this because I can't update an ongoing save?
No, this is always asking for trouble!
Then you probably skipped going back to your haven after a part of the main quest.
These were the guys from the beachhouse which you probably already killed in your game!
Exactly. The pier map was changed in 9.6 to get rid of some black artefacts in the sky, but in your old save data referring to the old map version was stored. Thus the error!
EDIT: Nevermind. It was just moved. I hadn't played this in awhile so I didn't realize. Kudos on you for still updating your patch after all this time, lol.
To those wondering: the indicator, UP 9.6 Plus, is located in the Gameplay Options now.
Edit: would it be possible to increase the volume of the malkavian voices they hear when in conversation with other characters? or add subtitles to the voice somehow while in a conversation? I have a hard time hearing what the voice is saying over what the character I'm talking to is saying.
Side question - are any of the mods worth a download or will this unofficial patch be enough? Thanks!
The console works fine but to keep the game from freezing after you use it, either use it from the main menu only or type "chareditor" and continue from there. I have no idea about the missing saves, are you running from the patch shortcut?
The latter is enough, provided you start a new game afterwards!
Subtitles are not possible and the volume might make the other conversation hard to hear. But all whispers are transcribed into the Patch Extras folder.
As no mods are compatible you should replay with the plus patch first and then choose other mods after you are finished!
Anyway, thanks for the update, I'm finally getting my wife to play this game now. I've downloaded the patch for her and it works fine. Cheers!
When I open a door and attempt to walk through it while it is still in the process of opening (not yet fully open) the door will regularly start to shut again on me, in some situations trapping me and rendering me unable to move out of the doorway.
Had to Quickload a few times because of this.
This is a known bug that strangely is connected to your frame rate! It was fixed in the latest UP 9.6 beta and you can do the same just by adding this to autoexec.cfg: fps_max "92"
