Tremere a dying breed

For those of who have also played the PnP game and/or fans of the Tremere clan, what are your thoughts on Bertram's comment? I know the Tremere are very picky in who they embrace and this may be playing a large role into why their numbers are so low. Not to mention you need to get permission from the clan elders before another Tremere can embrace and this is unique unlike the other major clans.

The pretenders...they aren't even REAL kindred! They stole their way in by shattering the memory of what they once were, mages.

As for VV (Vampire 5th Edition), yes they're still there but as with most clans for VV they'll get a shake up and won't be completely like they were in the Old World of Darkness or those we see in Bloodlines.

The Gencon panel last year claimed that they are backtracking on the end times. V5 will take place the night after Malkavians went insaner and reclaimed Dementation. All of the Gehenna plots after that are being blanked out.

Thankfully they have a chance to undo the idiotic Tremere mass deaths.

The Tremere antittribu getting mostly killed off is not getting retconned. More information on some of the upcoming metaplot changes for VtM 5e are in Beckett's Jyhad Diary.

Bumbles Bounce, if I may correct you, we are not a Master Clan; all Vampires use quite a few forms of differing "magic" and Alchemistry doing what they do as Immortals. Without magic we could not survive the daylight though we sleep in coffins or underground. While we may be smarter and more learned in Magery we offer solutions for the Camarilla and Anarchs they might not see normally.

That aside, if you are that far into the game you are in Hollywood and if you haven't met with Strauss yet and you are playing a Tremere, that means you did not do the plague killer quest for him instead of the Anarchs and you are going to miss out on something.

Well I was taking out the Plague Bearers first, I did eventually meet Strauss, I want a Haven at his Chantry and it is beginning to look like I will get it, I even got Heather Poe as my Girlfriend Ghoul. I wish they had sex scenes with her for it would be interesting. She is very loviable and devoted and yessss I am glad at later times she will be obsessed with me. I would make her into a vampire if I could.

But common sense says the tremeres' days are numberd. Several clans want revenge for past slights (salubri, assasmites, tzimice) and most clans dislike/distrust them. If anyone where to make a bold move against them they wouldn't have any allies to call.

This is mostly true, but they do have the camarilla loyalist who would come to their aid slightly. It is the camarilla that protects them and gives them their edge. That is why the Tremere is one of its strongest supporters and founding clans.

I can live with that. That "magic" is what makes us unique and mistrusted and feared by others. We don't offer solutions, we manipulate the solutions, place ourselves where it is most beneficial to our clan and make ourselves invaluble to Camarilla and Anarchs, Our pyramid and structure is the key, We are the House of Cards in a Hurricane that does not fall. I guess that's true, and i suspect it's what the tremere are banking on.

To my mind it's debateable how much of that support is likely to materialize when it comes to crunch time. I'm not 100% of the VTM but the impression i get is decisions come down to politics: so the tremere usurped the salubri by saying "oh well they diablerize" -technically true obvs but more complicated than that.- . It seems like a major clan would wipe out a chantry or two, if they played the politics game right and say "well they were -insert vampire taboo here- and it needed to be dealt with quickly" and who would come to their support?

Possible as networking student I’m bias, but I think the Nosferatu have played the alliances game best. No one likes them, but equally no one really hates them (minus the nickatu). They join various factions depending on their preferences but all of them are Nosferatu, my understanding is even sabbat nosferatu and camarilla nosferatu basically get along "hey, bro here's some sensor data on nikatu movement", "thanks bro here's ours" "nice one! good luck with the whole being a blood thirsty vampire thing" "same to you bro! good luck with the playing nice thing"

Tremere are OP as hell and there are a million reasons within the game lore to try to keep players from picking the obvious best clan. Unfortunately they're still the best clan and there's not a lot of reasons to pick anything else except for "theme."

Auspex and Domination are basically the best RP disciplines and magic can handle basically any combat situation if used cleverly, since there's a distinct lack of hard limits on what you can do.

Think it depends on the kinda game your in: domination dosne't work well vampires, just humans. Auspex, yeah is pretty good. Thaumaturgy is good but not unique to the tremere.

I know a guy whose take over a city with 3 dots in animals and a a lot of spare blood to make them into ghouls. LSS: Mass survivlence.
