We Need a Remake

Bloodlines 2 is never coming out. At this point I rather a remake or a remaster.

Someone was working on a Unity Engine "remaster" but it was shutdown via a Cease & Desist order by CCP(EVE Online devs who used to own the WoD IP) when the people who'd spent YEARS working on it free starting asking for donations. They viewed this as going from a free project no one gave a hoot about to a "for-profit" project without authorization. With Paradox Interactive(current IP owners) focusing on redoing Bloodlines 2 from the beginning(I assume that's what they're doing anyway) the odds of them focusing on Bloodlines 1 for a remaster/remake are slim to none. Also Activision technically still owns the rights to Bloodlines 1 despite Paradox owning the overall IP as they're the ones who published it.

You think Paradox would allow a fan remake?
The cease & desist came from CCP at the time, did anyone try to make a remake since?
Maybe Paradox is a bit more lenient? :D

I feel like Paradox would either not care or at least be like "Ask our permission and sure." The game is ancient, they don't have control over it as it's an Activision product, and legally as long as money is not asked for to make it or required to get it once finished, there's nothing wrong with doing that. It's why Skyblivion(Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion done using Skyrim's engine) is being allowed to proceed. It's a labor of love, the people making it do it free in their spare time, and they don't ask for any kind of financial support or donations etc. Bethesda has no legal basis to take action against it.

However, I do know Paradox gives people permission to use WoD IP things, SFX, music, etc for things like audio dramas set in the VtM universe. They mention it in the end-of-episode legal jargon. How certain things are the property of Paradox Interactive and are used with permission.

Yes, Paradox and the same modder talked about a remake/remaster, but Activision wasn't interested.

This game is old but a masterpiece. The unofficial patches are not worth downloading. I mean it’s nice the community does it and all but. I have trust issues. Bloodlines 2 is never coming out and chances are if it does, they will ruin it with their wokeness. Probably the reason why they don’t remake this game. Not woke enough. Women too sexy.

As long as Paradox would also get money off sales of course. They could just be the publisher anyway.

Yeah... It would be easier to make a new IP with Paradox's blessing, but since VTMB exist and is in the hands of Activision, someone would have to pry it out of their hands first, or at least make it worth to them, idk...

A free version would probably be ok.

The unofficial patches are the only reason anyone still plays this game.
GOG already includes the patch in their default install so your trust issues are nothing more than unfounded paranoia.

There's nothing wrong with the unofficial patch.

That’s cool. I just don’t want to download something extra. I have nothing against the unofficial patch. I just think the game should be remade or to make a very similar sequel.
