Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

first of all i dont know is there a universe for this game or its solo. whatever today i was checking smiling jack wiki page and is there mention his final death 2005 in book called gehenna: final death.
so is there a books directly connected this game or they are just fan made or writed by different authors? i dont like when one guy writes a book other one writes another one other writes game scenario etc.

Vampire the masquerade is a pen and paper role playing game based on the whitewolf rules. There's a bunch of books with rulesets, lore, etc. It's a well established universe.

Yes, Jack is supposed to die in that Gehenna book, but altough it was probably official, to me it did indeed read like bad fan fiction so I consider it to be non-canon. As Gehenna never happened in the new version of the World of Darkness, I'm pretty sure Jack is still alive or rather unalive :)!

You can find plenty about the game on various wiki sites. Also Onyx Path Publishing makes the V20(20th anniversary) book for VtM so if you want to read about the lore, you could get that. All the original books are out of print, but you might be able to find pdfs for sale somewhere. Otherwise check ebay for old game books or novels. The TV show was called Kindred the Embraced and was pretty decent for its time.

Other games set in the universe that I know of are Vampire the Masquerade - Redemption which is an even older game than VtMB. Paradox Interactive, as the current owners of the IP, are also working on a Werewolf the Apocalypse game but there's no real details about it yet.

Vampire the Masquerade series of RPG (and the whole World of Darkness) have almost 30 years old and hundreds of books.

I awser a similar question in feb. So i will "copy/paste" here about World of Darkness:

*****
If you want to know about Vampires in the World of Darkness, Vampire the Masquerade is the starting point.

So there is sourcebooks specifics to Vampires, like clanbooks, novels, description of cities (Like the sourcebook "Los Angeles By Night" and others "By Night" books.), Guide to Camarilla, Guide to Sabbat, The Book of Nod (Vampire Bible), etc...

Several things and Characters in Bloodlines are citated in the sourcebook "Los Angeles By Night".

***

But, if you want to know about ALL World of Darkness, the Core Books are those:

Primordial three:

- Vampire The Masquerade (Vampires and his Ghouls, and Sects)
- Werewolf The Apocalypse (The Werewolfs and the Spiritual Wolrd)
- Mage The Ascension (Mages and... Reality is a lie... Flee...)

Others:

- Wraith The Oblivion (Ghosts and the World of the Dead)
- Changeling The Dreaming (Fairies and the Dream World)
- Mummy The Ressurrection (bring the WoD to Middle East)
- Kindred of the East (Kuei-jin and WoD in Asia)
- Demon The Fallen (Demons, like in the Bible... or not exactly...)

And have those others who I dont read because they are not translated and distributed in Brazil (and also because my money and time becames scarse...):

- Hunter The Reckoning (A strange type of "choosen ones")
- Orpheus [Don't Look Back] (Mortals who can leave his bodies and travel into the Wolrd of the Dead)

Personally, I'm a big fan of WoD, and it's hard to find anything from them that is not made in an incredible way, have fun reading, i have a lot

Ah! Another thing! Well-timed your question. Exactly today, they announced that the 5th edition of Vampire the Masquerade will be released this year!!!

Start with the soure book "Vampire: The Masquerade". You can read the old versions or the 20th anniversary (I guess the best is the 20th, but the others have explanations in 2nd person and it was funny, I read the old pdfs and I bought the anniversary edition hardcover). There is also "Vampire: The Dark Ages" for something more medieval. Then you have a book per clan and sect with their history and more details, they have the same name of the clan/sect. And there are supplements like the Lore of the clans (more history), Ghouls: fatal addiction, V20 companion (politics? I haven't read it yet), Secrets of the Black Hand, etc.

Then there are novels inspired by VTM like the Clan Novels (each has a clan name, but together they make a single story) and The Masquerade of the Red Death.

You can buy books here: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/1/White-Wolf?src=browse1

(Note: There is another game from the same company called Vampire: The requiem, it is not the same universe)

This weekend starts the 5th edition pre-order, no idea how it will change.
