Is their character creation for visuals?

I've just started the game, twice, and both times I just ended up with a certain looking character. Two different clans, two different looks. I was able to put points where I wanted them but never stumbled on anything that allows you to customize your characters looks.

I'm ok with that, just curious if I'm missing it.

Each clan/sex combination has a specific appearance that you can't modify. You can get different clothing with stat changes from certain vendors, though.

No character creation. Each clan has a different look for male and female, and that's about it. So you're not missing anything, it's like that. Each model is modeled to kinda represent their clan, how they would look, and what kind of person they would embrace. Toreador are very fashionable, Brujah are kind of brawlers, Ventrue are all business like etc. And the armor upgrades reflect that for each of them, each get different armors as you progress.
