Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Can't get through Character Creator
I've installed the Unofficial Patch, I've deleted the files and reinstalled the game.
Still each time I try to start up a new game, I'll get to the first question of the character creation and the games audio starts to freak out and I'm unable to click anything.
Sometimes alt-tab gets the game to act normal before it does it all again.
I have no idea what's wrong and hope someone can figure out what's wrong.

Ok , Firstly you say you installed the unoficial patch, you deleted files , then re installed the game , ?
If you install the Unofficial Patch, did you start a new game with the patch, or did you try starting with vanilla game icon itself ?
If installing the patch, you must / need to start a new game from patch not the vanilla game ! =)
just saying...

I started the game from the icon from the unofficial patch, even checked the options to verify it said the version of the patch.

Anything special about your audio? Have you tried turning environmental audio off?
Scary Monsters Oct 5, 2020 @ 10:22am
Nothing special bout it, already tried turning off environmental audio

"I'm unable to click anything"

Is your computer's native resolution selected in the game options?
Scary Monsters Oct 5, 2020 @ 4:43pm
Yes, but the issue I'm having is the audio is stuttering and keyboard and mouse clicks are delayed

So maybe the game itself is stuttering, not just the audio. I don't remember the usual remedies for that, but there should be some, that were mentioned in the past.

Perhaps, the best way I can describe what happens to the game is, I'll click New Game, then as soon as both option pop up, the game freezes. The audio keeps repeating itself, I'm unable to click any of the options. I would appreciate any remedy to this

Looking through those old threads, the common suggestions for stuttering issues were:
Switch off "environmental effects" (or whatever the option is named).
Switch off "high quality audio"
Disable Steam Overlay
setting "core affinity"
Re-install

There was a thread in which Wesp5 and Vepar, solved a bug by opening the game console while the game was stuttering, and examining the repeating error messages that appeared in the console window.

I so far tried everything noted, core affinity seemed to work. For some reason everytime I run the game Environmental and High quality audio turns back on. I managed only to get to the opening cutscene before the stutter came back.

(I don't have the Unofficial Patch currently installed)

I tried un-checking the environmental effects, and high quality audio boxes, then closing and restarting the game; the boxes were selected upon restart. You probably need to save the game to get the options to "stick".

I believe that the U.P. has the games refresh rate set to 90 fps max? Could it be that you're using a monitor with a refresh rate higher than 90 hz, with V-sync applied/locked through Nvidia Control Panel? (Manage 3D settings/ Program settings).

I finally was able to get it working, I had to turn V-Sync off in the Nvidia control panel. Thank you everyone for your help

That's great. What is your monitor's refresh rate? If it's 120 Hz, you could try setting V-sync to "Adaptive half refresh rate", for a solid 60fps.
