Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

the dumb boss fights sour my game progress.
they're really unfair. Because the combat is really really bad.

If you've got a good reputation with Chunk and a good Persuasion (leveled to the maximum of 10), you can convince him to open the elevator and send you up, even though the Prince told him not to. You still have to defeat the Sheriff but you avoid everything below that. This will not work if Chunk was killed.

I heard about this, but it didn't happen for me. In fact, when I entered Venture Tower to start the end game, Chuck wasn't there at all. I didn't kill him and was always nice to him, but he just never showed up. I'm actually running v4.1 of the Clan Quest Mod, which only uses (I think) v9.4 of UP, so I may be in the wrong place, but it was the first one I could find that kind of addressed my problem.
Just make a new post. A lot of the people who work on VTM:B's bigger mods frequent the steam forums. I've spoken to most of them a few times, they're all pretty helpful. I know wesp (He made the unofficial patch) is on here a lot.

That's the good thing about these older games with smaller communities. Provided the mod authors are still active, it's pretty easy to get in touch with them about things.

You might be right. 9.4 UP is an old version. I compiled some faster routes with less grind to get to certain boss encounters according to some trivia which SHOULD work with 10.5 UP patch at least. Unfortunately completely pacifist paths are no possible AFAIK. The guide trivia can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1973807775

That's the problem with some of the cool mods for the game, the biggest regret being with Clan Quest Mod, the UP patches which they run on are so ooooooold.

Not all bosses are so vulnerable to spells. Especially supernaturals.

Just hoard buy as many blood bags as you can before every mission and you will be fine.

Personally I have an OCD to go melee or spend firearms ammo before using the spells as blood is, often, one of the most limited resources in the game. Feeding on humans is often cumbersome in combat and is easily interrupted, even if the opponent is shooting from a distance. Murphy's law is very annoying in Bloodlines when feeding.
The first spell Blood Strike costs 1 blood to use and gives you at least 2 blood back. So you can never run dry with just that spell alone... and yeah thats why im gonna be investing in Fire Arms for the sewers and gargoyle etc.

Tremere seems pretty darn strong right off the bat honestly and just gets more OP. Considering DOminate allows you to avoid one of the three main conversation triggers, you can essentially sneak around with the first charm ability, dominate people in convos and have a Blood Strike which is an infinite loop of blood regeneration and can also 3 shot humans lol. THats all at lvl 1.... off the character sheet.

Well, I agree about Blood Strike. But it's a problem against supernaturals such as Jezebel Lock. In that small apartment there is so little room for any tactics except glitch here in furniture. There are more encounters like that in the game.

I disagree about Dominate - it's easily interrupted if the target is accidentally shot with firearms. So it's kind of useless in combat IMHO.

Blood isn't THAT hard to come by. Then again thanks to support skills I'm pretty much always flush with cash. There really isn't any sort of meaningful money sink in the game, so you should have some cash to invest in blood bags plus you can get a relic from Pisha pretty early on and I'm pretty sure it's effect applies to rats. At the very least Tremere can feed on rats so it's not a problem. Sewers under Hollywood might be a problem though... Can't remember if the relic works on them chupacabras or not.

Yes, but all of this works when you know of these things. I.e. if you played the game at least once ^_^
