Stuck in Criminal Violation mode
So I did the Bad Blood quest, and at the end of it, I got the call from Therese, who sends the cops after my character. My char ditches the place and goes to hide in the sewers. She's sat down there for over 30 minutes now, and I've read the Criminal Violation is only supposed to last a few minutes. But it just keeps on going. No matter what door I try, I get the message that doors can't be used while being pursued. So effectively I'm 100% stuck.
I love the game dearly, so I would really really appreciate help and advice.

Edit: I have only the bare necesseties patch to make it run on a modern comp, I have only the bare necesseties enabled, and nothing else (at least to my knowledge). The patch is version 9.8.

There's already a patch 10.0 out, but still, unless this is some weird 9.8 exclusive bug, no need to download the new patch and start a new game. Did you try googling for console commands? You can probably use the console to end the pursuit or something.

I did, but for some reason I can't get the console to activate. My suspicion is that because I have a scandinavian keyboard, I need to press alt gr + the key behind which the tilde is, which isn't working. I know I can Ctrl+Shift to change the keyboard type, but I have no idea where tilde is located in the anglo-american keyboard.

I think the tilde is left of the "1" on all the keyboards, no?
Dreamer May 12, 2018 @ 5:36pm
On scandinavian keyboard tilde is on the right, next to delete on the same key as a few other special symbols.

However, I did manage to get to the console by Ctrl+Shift to american keyboard. Alas, as I got the list of commands, there is none that would terminate the Criminal Violation mode. I did try the teleport_player command, but I can't figure out how I should type Therese in there to procede with the quest (I'm hoping that might force kill the Criminal Violation mode). Any suggestions? I'm not very savvy with console commands.

So I tried map sm_asylum_1.bsp, and it got me into The Asylum *however* it completely reset my character. Looks, clan, items, quests, gender, everything ^^;; I'm starting to get the feeling I'm not getting this to work... :( I'll gladly try any and all advice. Thank you for the help thus far, I feel the answer is in the console.

Browse the vampure the masquerade bloodlunes folders. I think there's a list of console commands there somewhere.

I got the list of commands from the console itself, there is a command that gives the full list, but I'm having difficulties figuring the meaning and/or application of some of them out. The command descriptions are good but very technical, so with some of them I can't quite parse what exactly it is they do in practice.

Here's what I've tried thus far:
-I tried the teleport_person (I think that was it, I no longer have the list in front of me), and it's supposed to work with a name, so I typed teleport_person Therese but got a message that such entity wasn't found - I'm not sure it is even possible to teleport between maps.
-I tried the map command (map sm_asylum_1.bsp), and it worked, except that it reset *everything* about my character and quests, so that one's a no go.
-I tried the noclip command, but it only works within any given map, and doesn't enable me to move between maps, so I can't enter the Asylum that way either.

There's a whole bunch of commands that I can't quite figure out *what* they do in practice, quite a few have a very long technical explanation that kinda goes over my head as I've never really done much coding stuff. Some of them might help, but I have no idea.

Thank you for continuing to help :)

I managed to solve it! Yay!

So I decided to try if walking to a different map would solve things, so I went to the beach. My character got cops running after her, and after a quick jog around the beach she ran back to the parking lot and dived under into the sewers. After only mere moments I get the message that the cops have given up. I go back up, and lo and behold the chase mode has ended!!!

Apparently I went hiding *too* fast and too well, I should have let the cops chase my character around a bit more so it becomes a proper chase.

Thank you so much for your help, if it hadn't been for your suggestion I might well have given up and never discovered this.

Glad you managed to solve it! Happy gaming! :)

I know it's an old thread but I want to dip in for other people who might encounter this problem like I did.

I came out of the Diner after the incident with Therese and the cops just wouldn't stop chasing, I even ran around them for a while letting them shoot me before going to hiding.

I then did what Dreamer mentioned and went to the beach, one cop chased me there and I ran back towards the city entrance, still in the beach instance and waited and the cops gave up the chase after a minute or so.
2025 here, using lastest UP+

This is STILL a problem and thanks, solved the same way, changed maps to the beach, couple coppers followed me and after a little hide and seek they gave up. Thanks OP!
