Report a translation problem
i thought i remembered fighting with a rocket launcher on the roof top battle. as for grenades... where are they? i need to do a fresh install. but i don't think i messed up their file.
"equipping" it in this way shows my character holding it, but neither the attack button or alt attack button seem to have a function. and... i had copy pasta'd the grenade file guts to the glock a few days ago. didnt quite work right...
im gonna go back over the file and see if i can see anything.
the real reason im so interested is cuz ive had no luck tying an aoe affect to projectile impacts and i really want to make a grenade launcher for my mod... : P
oh and theres tons of refferences in the sprite folder to rockets and even a reference to a nonexistant rocket launcher item file in the vendor file.
edit: and if you had ment for bach to be tossing nades in the showdown, he dosnt. just his standard rifle/sword/teleport stuff.

were you ever able to literally throw a grenade? also, do you mean taking the cab to see the anarchs during the final night? becuase i dont remember nines being anywhere around the hotel.
ive been pouring over the item file and ive noted that the reason it dosnt show up in your inventory is because there is no such thing as a thrown weapon inventory...
changing "item_type" to "weapon_firearm" allows the grenade to show up in your firearms inventory page.
but after seriously poking the file, i havnt been able to get it to fire one way or the other... which really blows my mind. all the syntax seems to be straight and i even went so far as to mod questionable settings to settings i know to work.
so i changed the grenade model to the glock...
and it works! it looks silly cuz... ya know... your throwing glocks... but the projectiles have a parabolic arc, they tick for a few seconds, then boom. aoe damage. nifty. gonna mess with it some more.
Where I think I got it from:
I remember talking to Nines and Damsel, in the Luckee Star hotel in the Hollywood hub? Head of the werewolf on the bed? I think that's where/when I got the grenade.(plus patch 8.8, 9.2)
wuh... i have never encountered that event.
on a side note; i have no idea how to scum the aoe affect from the grenade and apply it to other weapons. it must be tied to some secret automatically applied projectile settings like the bullet time effect.
Maybe this has something to do with it:

far from a waste of time. im glad grenades finally work and i just set tseng and merc to sell them once china town is unlocked. merc sells em sooner, tseng later.
as for the aoe.... its still voodoo times ten. right now mine is set to 160 bashing dmg_bullet and it functions exactly the same. its pretty awesome except its damage output is really weird. it dosnt really use skill or lethality in its calculations. im sure it rolls against your soaks... but how much? not sure. blast radius is also super confusing. especially concerning the player. and things that would traditionally give you cover against guns give you no cover against nades. but sometimes a nade at the feet of a npc will do them no damage... curb cover maybe?
for instance, dmg 200 with 0 lethality will insta kill the player 1 outa 5 times... the other 4 times... 0 damage. weird... that same grenade will only hit a cop for maybe 90... so im starting to think...
...it does percentile damage like the discs do. but the funky part is yerp... setting the dmg really affects the output.
i had also tried putting dmg_blast on other guns a while ago. no affect. im sure its deep magic. but where...
good news is i will probably be updating my nexus mods with the now functional frag grenades in a little bit...
i decided to just cook up my own from the vanilla file.
