Can Beckett really teach a Gangrel Celerity? [Plus Patch]
The guide included with the unofficial patch claims that if you are a Gangrel character and have 2 or more in each discipline when talking to Beckett after the sarcophagus event, he can teach you Celerity. Is this accurate as of the latest version of the Plus Patch?

I think so...

I'm trying to find Beckett's stats sheet from my VtM sourcebooks and I'm failing. Does anyone know which book he would appear in? He is mentioned in a large number of them, but his stats remain hidden..

His vampire the eternal struggle card has celerity, but that's not really proof..

edit: just cant find it. It's mindboggling that the character sheet of someone so famous and omnipresent doesn't exist.. Not children of the night, not V20 rulebook, not gangrel:revised, not gehenna, not children of the revolution, not lore of the clans, not nights of prophecy..
Someone help me out..

If even you aren't sure I guess there's only one way I can find out, heh. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
I can confirm he taught my gangrel celerity but you can only level it up to 3

Yeah i have been meaning to ask that same exact question but i am fairly sure that he is the strongest kindred that we get to meet in bloodlines. He is a 7th generation which in itself is a tell tale sign of his strengths plus we can also judge his strength by the kind of enemies and allies he has.He is respected and feared enough to be left somewhat alone by the camarilla and the sabat.I also believe he knows thaumaturgy judging by his vampire the eternal struggle card

On this site it is mentioned that Beckett has probably Celerity 1 or 2: http://shadownessence.org/index.php?/topic/19434-did-white-wolf-ever-post-the-sheets-for-beckett-smiling-jack/

So basically animalism 5 , protean 6 , celerity 2 , fortitude judging from what was stated has to be quite high like 6 , auspex 2 , thaumaturgy ( path unknown ) yeah clears my doubts , he is the strongest kindred in bloodlines judging by the discipline stats alone

So I got to the dialogue and tried it. No dice. When I say "I'm Gangrel, like you", Beckett asks if I'm having trouble with Protean, and my only option is to say that that I'm not, but Animalism is tricky. Which, obviously, results in him giving me a point in Animalism.

G.Beckett_Discipline was 0 when I checked, but I've tried changing it to 1, 2, with no result.

edit: nevermind, realized that you need 3 in each discipline, not "2 or more". also had to make sure i leveled up animalism outside of the map in order for pc.animalism to correctly update to a value of 3

I couldn't find any specific paths, but at one point in the Jyhad Diary Beckett dispells a few seals with what I assume to be thamaturgical countermagic.
The seals were created by the Bitter-Ender/Cretheus, so it does require quite potent countermagic.
Couldn't really find anything else on him though...A mystery for sure.

I'm fairly sure the gamefaqs guide included with the patch tells you how to do it. If you don't get a solid answer here, try there or Planet Vampire.

If my beliefs are correct Smiling Jack is the oldest. Though I am unsure whether or not he is as well versed in the disciplines like Beckett is. Pity they are both dead now.

Jack is older and stats wise like our character minus the gen https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Smiling_Jack

Beckett is "younger" but because of his lower gen much stronger

They are not. With the new VtM V5 release Gehenna didn't happen and thus their deaths in the stupid novel too! As far as I know cannonically both are still alive and well now :)!

Or go with V20 where a lot of other stupid stuff didn't happen and make your own canon! I know which I prefer even if I borrow things here and there.

Your answer lies in this thread.

If you play as a Gangrel he teaches you celerity and if you play as the other clans you gain access to protean. I don't recall the exact words but if you ask him that you wanna know more about him he replies by saying that " You ( pc ) know more about me (Beckett ) than i know about you, why don't you tell me about yourself " at which point you are given 4 reply options two of which are stat based. One based on persuasion and one based on seduction. Now if you use the seduction dialogue you say something like " If someone is as good looking as me , they can get anything they want " to which he replies " Maybe the Nosferatu are right in their prejudices " which basically means that the Nossies hostility towards the pretty bloodsuckers might have some validity to it. You gain nothing from using the seduction dialogue.

Now if you use persuade on him he will tell you that Beckett isn't his real name and for persuading him in telling more about himself you get 1 XP. You will need a minimum of seduction 6 and persuasion 8 to gain access to these dialogues. He gives you access to protean when you reply to his initial question by saying that " if i given in to the beast , what more is left ? " i don't remember his reply to this but i know he teaches you protean after this. If you play as a Gangrel you tell him that " I have nearly mastered most of my disciplines" to which he replies " very impressive for one so young " and tells you that you need to learn something more " practical" after which you gain access to Celerity as a Gangrel. Now both protean and Celerity can be raised only up to lvl 3 and not more than that so keep that in mind.
