Side Quests
Doing another play through of this game. I just got to Hollywood. I did every single side quest possible up to this point that i know of. There where not very many downtown. I dont think i missed any but it is possible.

Does anyone know of the commonly missed side quests that someone might accidently skip? Is there a list somewhere of all the quests in each hub?

I feel like Santa Monica had alot of content but downtown had very little. I forget how much is left in the game but im ready to go find Gary and dont see any other available side quests...

I think there about the same number of side quests downtown, check the walkthrough included with the extras in the Unofficial Patch!

There's a ton to do in Downtown...
Pisha, 2 quests in the hotel, Skyline apartments (rob the apartment), continuation of the killer quest, diease quest for tremere and anarchs, Venus, garage etc.
Check the walkthrough. The only one you can "miss" is Pisha i think since for it to trigger, you need to go to the hospital. First few times playing the game way back when, i totally missed that place cause i didn't know you can go there. It looked like background models.

Guess i did them all really fast then it just seemed shorter.

Could be. If you know where to go, the game is a lot shorter.

Definitely. I just made it through Santa Monica, hitting side quests as well, and it felt really short, much shorter than I remember it being when I originally played years ago. Don't think I missed anything, just that it takes longer when you don't know the game.

EDIT: To OP, in Santa Monica, one quest that's easy to miss for me is Bloody Mess, because you have to recheck your email after getting explosives.

Also, none of the quests are really "missable", you can always go back and do them later up to a certain point. They're not going anywhere. I just do them all as soon as i get them to get XP for later story missions and later hubs. But if you miss for example, Pisha the first time you're Downtown, and get to chinatown, she'll still be there. Though, you might not be able to complete her quest (if you didn't pick up the fetish in the museum), but you can do the quest leading up to that, with the Haunted LA guy. And even that, in the unofficial patch, the museum and Giovanni mansion stay open so you can go back there if you forgot something.

The only way you can really miss something is after the blood hunt on you, when the cabbie drives you around. That's the endgame and you should do everything you can before the werewolf quest.

Yeah Pisha seems to be the last side quest i have. She tells you to send the reporter dude downstairs but hes not there. I remember this from before he runs away some where. Im sure ill stumble into him later.

The santa monica side quests where a little more fleshed out. I really enjoy hacking in this game and messing with computers. Too bad you rarely get the opportunity.

I remember it kind of snowballing like this on my first playthrough and once i got to hollywood and china town there was not much to do.

I sure enjoy all the main out of town missions tho like the haunted mansion, museum, elizabeth dane. Just finished Grouts Mansion. hope i didnt miss that relic in the museum but not a big deal. Now im onto that snuff film chain which i look forward to. Sucks how the game kinda just drops off near the end.

^ if you talk to every one twice, you should pick them all up. some of the quests have optional strands that can only be discovered through dialogue checks and or paying attention to what the quest giver says; sometimes key info won't show up in your quest log.

other strands are not mentioned at all. like sneaking through the wearhouse and parking garage, undetected, for extra xp.

but thats not a running theme. so, for instance, getting through the museum undetected yields no extra xp.

the most missable strand i can think of would be checking back with strauss right after isaac asigns you the gargoyle task. remember the book you found in strauss' study? ; )

the easiest and most spoiler-rific way to double check is to look at the experience_table.txt

in unoficial_patch/vdata/system

the quest_placename.txt's can also be rather enlightening.

but not all quests and strands actualy give xp and or have affirmed quest progression checks. ; P

sometimes, its just the thought that counts. those tend to be my favorite... and coincidentally... the most evil. >: D

Yeah I was never able to do the Museum without being spotted and you are not supposed to kill anyone for extra XP. So i used sneak to get into the basement undetected but a camera saw me so i just ran to the sarcophagus room while tanking all the cops and as soon as you get in there is a scripted cutscene with beck or whever that guy is and the cops despawn. I even had to backtrack for a keycard i missed just running right past 5 cops shooting at me lol.

If i had known they did basically no damage i would of had way less frustration trying to do that quest without bloodshed the first time lol.

edit: i don't think its actualy possible... if you did manage it... that should be 100xp right there.

I believe that Beckett entered the room from the windows in the ceiling. He is a Gangrel after all...

Do you still get the "stealth" bonus if you run past everything?
Or are they allowed to see you, you just can't kill anyone?
Heresy Dec 4, 2019 @ 12:43pm
There is no stealth bonus it seems he just says no bloodshed. Once you get into that room with becket i got 3 xp points and that was it there was a cutscene that takes you back to town.

My first instinct was always to fight past all those guards if i couldnt stealth but you just dont need to.

LOL that makes this mission so much easier. I can just run past everyone, maybe if i have dominate, incapacitate some of them and be done with the mission in no time! I was always under the impression you need to sneak everywhere! :D
