As for the unofficial patch, you should continue to use it, it's what makes the game run at all on modern systems. The unofficial patch has nothing to do with this.
I mean it wouldn't be the first old game that runs at higher refresh rates. But I get what you're saying.
The game isn't unplayable and runs at 60fps but I just like to have the highest refresh rate possible and was asking myself why this particular game forces my monitor to only output 60hz.
I'm not entirely sure if it ran at more than 60hz before. I first noticed the forced switch to 60hz with Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl but there it was fixed by disabling "Fullscreen optimisation". That didn't work with this game so i wanted to know what the reason is especially because the PC gaming wiki states that this game has neither a framerate nor a fefresh rate lock.
Yeah I'm not really planning on going higher than 90fps. It's just that I still would like to run the game at 144hz to eliminate screen tearing (with g-sync) without having to use v-sync (having to cap the framerate)
